There is a guest editorial about Steamboat on the Torch website now called "Keep Dragon Him Out".

I am normally a fan of bad puns, but come on.

The funny thing about it is that the editorial doesn't say ANYTHING, except that he expects Steamboat to fail. I like the first comment, which calls the piece "melodramatic shite".

BTW, I see the term "bike ride" fairly often in discussing older matches. Can someone enlighten me?

Last night, I was watching the first part of the Nitro in 1998 that was filmed at the dome -- they claimed to have 35,000 people at the show for which the main event was Hogan/Goldberg. Hogan comes out and cuts a promo about how Goldberg ain't nuthin and doesn't deserve to fight him, so he's got some other NWO Brother to fight him instead.

It's clear that the people had come to see Hogan/Goldberg. Now, I didn't see the end of the show yet, but I assume Hogan did not wrestle. What were they thinking? Did they think it would just bring some "cool" heel heat? Or did Hogan back out at the last second? Anyway, it was a crappy thing to do to the fans -- especially THAT MANY.

Goldberg wrestled twice in the same night. He had to beat Scott Hall earlier in the evening in order to get to Hogan at the end of the show.

That's the Nitro where Goldberg won the title.

D'oh! That's what I get for going to sleep since I put the show on after midnight. LOL So it was a fake swerve. Interesting. I'll finish it tonight, probably.

I just received a call from former TNA star David Young telling me that the 21 year old son of his former Diamonds In The Rough partner, TNA X Division & Tag Team Star, Elix Skipper was shot and killed in his home in Columbus, OH.

All of us at Wz.com send our condolences to Elix Skipper and his family over this tragic loss.

I was looking at Velvet Underground lyrics hoping for a somewhat obvious Flair joke, but I got nothing.

So I guess that you just don't know...yes, and I guess that you just don't know.....

This company never ceases to amaze. From the latest Powerslam magazine:

"Dunn's philsophical overlap with Vince extends beyond wrestling.

Like the WWE Chairman, Dunn is an ultra-conservative Republican who supported George W. Bush. In 2004, Dunn earned Vince's compliments when he proudly flouted company policy to wear a giant 'Bush/Cheney 2004' badge to work on the day after the election. In 2008, creative team sources allege that Dunn, ironically, had anyone who wore clothing or merchandise related to the Democratic President-elect formally reprimanded by the company. Meanwhile, sources backstage report overhearing McMahon and Dunn discussing how Obama's policies will so badly damage America's ecomony that periodic cuts in WWE personnel will be required in order for the company to continue to pay their multi-million-dollar executive salaries and stock dividends."

I was in attendance at the RAW taping in London, England on April 20 and I can tell you that the original finish of the Kane vs. CM Punk went down a bit different than the version aired on tv. The original finish of the Kane vs. CM Punk match was botched up. Lilian Garcia announced CM Punk as the winner. But, the referee apparently told CM Punk to go back into the ring and do the finish over again. Kane pushed CM Punk and tried to choke slam him. And then they did the finish that was shown on tv. CM Punk pinned Kane for a second time and Lilian Garcia announced CM Punk as the winner for the second time. So, the last 4 seconds of the match of the finish shown on tv was actually the second time CM Punk pinned Kane in a row (they had two pinfalls within a period of about 60 seconds). If you don't believe me... in the tv version of this match, you can see that during the last 4 seconds of the match, almost all of the fans in the front row are standing all of a sudden... while just one second earlier, everyone was still seated. That is because about 60 seconds has been edited out (this includes the botched up finish, Lilian Garcia announcing CM Punk as the winner for the first time and CM Punk going back into the ring and Kane confronting him again). By the way, most of the fans in attendance didn't really mind seeing CM Punk pin Kane twice in a row... but some of them seemed a bit confused.

Anyway, not sure if anyone cares. But this is the random comments thread after all...

I wonder how many of Vince and Foley's falling-out episodes involved politics, since Mick's an ardent Democrat.
