For the NWA, I just went through all of the PPVs and Commercial tapes I have in my collection except for Havoc 1989. I also need a better version of the GAB 1985. In the upcoming weeks, as I work on different comps, I'll review discs that I have so we can be ahead of the game regardless of the category.

Might as well start sub forums for All Japan and New Japan too, we know we are doing those categories for sure

Yeah, I'll do those once I start knocking out the Classics I'll be watching for the Hansen and Funk sets.

OK, I created some more categories. I'll create more tomorrow.

 

In the meantime, I really like the Loss approach to the categories. We can include All-Star and Southwest in a Texas category with World Class but if we determine they don't fit well, we can move them to Other since we won't have a ton of footage to choose from anyway.

 

For Portland, we can put it in its own category but if we don't get enough footage for a set then we'll move it to Other.

 

For Florida, I can make a Florida category as well but this seems like the hardest territory to pin down. I like the Loss idea of putting it in Other along with Portland and having a really strong Other set.

 

For now, I am going to include Georgia, Mid Atlantic and Crockett/Turner in one NWA category. We can decide later if they need to be changed. It will also help us determine if we need to split up the category or have one large category. In the meantime, we have a place to put matches from the discs we have.

 

For Maple Leaf, I am going to send Phil the 4 discs I have and he can decide where it should go. If we know where to find anymore Maple Leaf let me know and I'll track it down.

 

In the meantime, we have enough stuff for Memphis, Joshi and Texas that we don't have to fight about those for another year.

I have watched less than 2 Volumes of the Lynch Portland so far and already have 8 nominated matches. Buddy Rose is fucking genius. Anyway, this has made me change my stance on throwing Portland in "Other" right away. I'll contact Lynch and see if I can get Vol. 4. Maybe he can send Dan Vol. 12 and maybe Dan can transfer the tape. I tried before but my VCRs would not read it. The next step would be to look for Portland footage from 1985-89. I really do not know the history of the promotion or who worked the territory after 1984 but the early stuff has been genius.

Lumping Florida in with Alabama/Knoxville groups is the best option in my mind.

 

I still like the idea of having TBS as one group then the other Crockett stuff together but the way it is now is fine for the grouping on the forum and those categories will come later in the game anyway.

I don't object to lumping Florida with those groups but I think that all of them will end up in one big Other category anyway.

 

I don't really care for your division of the NWA stuff but that is why I feel it is necessary to start going through the footage now so we can get a better idea of what will be nominated and how big of a set we are looking at.

 

I am already at work on Portland and trying to fill any gaps from the 2nd half of the decade.

Even if we aren't doing the sets soon, I think we need more folders so we can nominate stuff in additional categories if we happen to watch it.

 

I'd like to see folders added for:

 

Europe

Lucha Libre (as opposed to "Mexico" since some stuff will be from California)

AWA

Knoxville & Alabama

Canada

Other (for both indy stuff we know will belong there as well as stuff that may end up in a different set but we're not sure where it's going right now like Los Angeles stuff)

I am not going to make an Other or Alabama/Knoxville forum yet. If there is a match that does not fit in the forums, just post it here...
