Posted April 24, 200520 yr comment_1839049 I'm curious what you guys think if your favorite TV show. I've read about Rescue Me, House & The Shield a lot around here. If you had to pick your favorite TV show though, what would it be? I know stuff like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the like have fallen down the totem poll. They just don't seem to be as popular as they were. The Ultimate Fighter has also ended for the season. My favorite show, as it has been for quite some time, is Emeril Live. I'm not sure why, it's just entertaining to me. I'm excluding any wrestling shows and Sportscenter.
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1839740 Probably Lost or Trailer Park Boys, if we're talking about shows that are still running. A lot of the other shows I like have already been cancelled, but air on some channels. Like Home Movies.
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1840667 On the contrary, I think ATHF is more popular than ever before. Prior to this year, I had come across one person who admitted to watching it. Now it seems like a ton of people not only watch it, but love it. I rarely watch current TV shows, so it's usually just a mix of DVD and shows in syndication for me: - Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Seinfeld - Curb Your Enthusiasm - King of Queens - Simpsons (excluding the last several seasons)
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1840678 Favorite TV Show of all time? Saturday Night Live currently? Conan
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1841315 SNL is the epitome of inconsistent. Even the classic eras of the show are that way. There'd be one geniuinely hilarious sketch lost in the shuffle of far more mediocre or terrible ones. Makes you wonder what was going on with their writing staff where you could get brilliance and god-awful in the same show. It's like none of their creative forces have had enough in them to put together a show that's excellent on all fronts.
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1843022 I don't know if I could pick just one, but if I had to, it would be out of ER, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Rescue Me, Family Guy and South Park. Lots to choose from obviously, but I think ultimately it comes down to ER or Nip/Tuck for drama and Family Guy for comedy. Rescue Me has only had one season, but if it continues to improve, it may very well take the top spot.
April 24, 200520 yr comment_1843407 I rarely watch regular tv these days either. But I do love: ATHV Oz 24 The Sopranos And I used to be really, really, in love with The X-Files and I LOVED Roswell.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1844097 Agreed on The X-Files, I only didn't list it since it's off the air. And there were those dreadful last two seasons also...
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1846479 24 is the type of show that you can be engrossed in if you were watching it for the first time (say on DVD), but has little replay value. I got through season one in a couple of days, but since then, I've had no real desire to buy it (even when it's been as low as $15) because I can't envision sitting down to watch any particular episode again.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1846819 Yeah, the first time you watch it it can be awesome. I 'mark out' more watching that show than anything else. That being said, I think my 4 favourite shows on TV right now are 24, Lost, Without a Trace and Arrested Development (which, hopefully, is still on next season). Those are the 4 shows that I'll set aside time to watch each week or tape if I'm out or at work, although House is probably #5 right now, as I'm starting to get into that.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1846858 Law and Order (I watch all 4 franchises) CSI (only the original) SNL South Park The Daily Show Robot Chicken Aqua Teen Hunger Force Sealab 2021 (took me a while to get into it, but there's been some real laugh out loud moments) Sopranos
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1846908 Robot Chicken is hit or miss with me, but it's another Adult Swim show that I can endorse. Sealab 2021 is a niche show and not likely to get the same buzz that shows like ATHF do. It's still a witty and clever show; it just has a premise that a lot of casual viewers won't get.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1847010 Not every episode of Robot Chicken has been consistant, but when it scores, they score big. The one tonight with the life of the Incredible Hulk had me tapping out in laughter.
April 25, 200520 yr comment_1847269 Whoa, curveball. Was that really the last episode of Sealab 2021 or is this another "we cancelled Aqua Teen again" gimmick?
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1859251 And I used to be really, really, in love with The X-Files Oh God, I've been catching more and more reruns of The X-Files (TNT usually at 12 PM) and it is truly becoming one of the shows that I know I should have watched when it was on the air. I love everything about the show... the relationship between Mulder and Scully... don't even get me started. But, I'll just list my current shows for now: 24 Nip/Tuck Rescue Me Dead Like Me (even though Showtime cancelled it, it still has a chance of being picked up by another network) Arrested Development (it's up to Fox whether there will be a third season or not) Family Guy The L-Word (I feel out of the loop because I came so late into the show, but it's still a good one)
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1859513 Flyboy watches and loves Nip/Tuck (as do I) and Rescue Me but doesn't watch FX's best show, The Shield. Color me confuzzled. I watch Nip/Tuck and The Shield as they air, I occassionally would leave the channel on FX and half-watch Rescue Me. It just didn't really do anything for me or stand out in any special way. There aren't too many shows that I watch as they air. Other than the FX shows, I watch ALIAS on Wednesday nights. My relationship with ALIAS is weird, though -- When the show first came on, I watched the first three episodes and then decided it wasn't worth watching anymore. But I decided to give it a try again when the first season came out on DVD. Turns out, I was wrong and I dropped it from my rotation too early. I fuckin' LOVED it. I finished the first season in time to be caught up for the Season Two premiere. Then it happpened again. I watched the first couple of episodes, stopped and then bought the DVDs to get caught up for the Season Three opener. It happened again this year. I watched the first 3-4 eps of Season three, it fell to the wayside but I bought the discs and finished them in a week to be prepared for Season Four. Season Four began a few weeks ago and I've already watched my obligatory three episodes. Guess I'll conveniently finish up this season when the DVDs come out just before Season Five starts. Two other shows I tried not to watch when they were on television but love anyway and own every season on DVD are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and La Femme Nikita. I'm so asian in the way I mark out for female leads.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1859618 I've given The Shield and even The Soprano's each a chance, but they just don't do much for me. Different strokes... y'know how that goes. Same with you and Rescue Me -- but, hey, to each their own.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1860053 All-Time: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Currently... - #1: NCIS - #2: Dead Like Me (if it still aired) - #3: Carnivale (Quickly creeping up to #1 spot. Seriously good and yet pretty unknown) - #4: Rescue Me - #5: House Honorable Mention: Medium
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1860147 I've given The Shield and even The Soprano's each a chance, but they just don't do much for me. Different strokes... y'know how that goes. Same with you and Rescue Me -- but, hey, to each their own.I hear ya. And I can understand your dilemma. MEN like The Shield and The Sopranos. You simply can't relate. Which is why you like The L-Word and Dead Like Me. I'm sure you'll be picking up the first season of Desperate Housewives the day it comes out. To each their own, like you said.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1860250 I love how when people don't see eye-to-eye with your tastes their aren't "men" or something of the sort. It's amusing, really.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1860850 Attacking someone's masculinity (or lack thereof) is always involved in the first volley of insults. That's rule number one. Everyone knows that. Well, at least all MEN do. But, honestly...it isn't just the TV shows. That's only beginning and it doesn't end with your Fiona Apple love. That's what's amusing, really.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1861126 That's only beginning and it doesn't end with your Fiona Apple love. Then, let's attack Steve, godthedog, or anyone else that has taste that, *gasps*, differs from yours! OMG HE LISTENS TO FIONA APPLE, SARAH MCLACHLAN, AIMEE MANN, ETC. HE'S NOT A REAL MAN~!!! Please, CJ. Save it. It's been overdone and it's quite trite by now.
April 26, 200520 yr comment_1861151 You don't even know what trite means. And it has nothing to do with my personal tastes. Those guys you mentioned also happen to not be 17-year-old BLACK guys. Besides, it all started as a joke until you took offense. You apparently need the same stick remover as Bruiser.
