Mid South Wrestling Volume 067

Produced:7-13-84

• Sonny King vs. Krusher Krushev

This was the only match that went any length on this show, and was kind of fun, I like Sonny King, what was his deal? Far from a disc selection though. Also this was another example of weird Watts motif booking. As 4 out of the 6 matches ended up with run ins.

• Pretty Young Things vs. Midnight Express

This was really fun, although it was a bit short, mostly a heat segment on Norvell, do we have any longer matches between these teams?

• Junk Yard Dog & Jim Duggan vs. Butch Reed & Buddy Landell

This was mostly notable for the crazy post match brawl. Dog looked kind of fat and out of it here, as his punches and headbutts looked kind of shitty, when they looked great a couple of years earlier. Reed was awesome with his KO selling, but I think this is a step below a DVD selection

Hacksaw Duggan & Terry Taylor vs. Hercules Hernandez & Steve Williams (7/3/84)

Doc had just turned heel so Cornette has grouped him with Herc in this rivalry match. This was a very competitive match with some fun stuff with Cornette and Taylor getting his ass kicked at the end.

"Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Steve Brinson (7/3/84)

Squash.

"Hacksaw" Butch Reed vs. Mike Jackson (7/3/84)

Reed was awesome here.

The Pretty Young Things (Norvell Austin & Koko Ware) vs. Bob Brown & Dale Veasy (7/3/84)

PYT's!!!!!!!!!! and the MX get involved for fun.

Sonny King vs. Krusher Khruschev (7/3/84)

Reed runs in for the DQ.

Magnum TA is out to wrestle Ernie Ladd but Landell comes out and wants Magnum so they wrestle until Ladd shows up and beats up Magnum with his briefcase.

The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. Pat Rose & Hans Schroeder (7/3/84)

TV time runs out.

Bill Watts introduces the greatest title belt ever in the new North American Heavyweight Title to Magnum TA.

Hercules Hernandez vs. Josh Stroud (7/17/84)

Squash.

The Midnight Express ("Loverboy" Dennis Condrey & "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton) vs. The Pretty Young Things (Norvell Austin & Koko Ware) (7/17/84)

PYT's show great teamwork early on but Norvell would get caught in the MX corner and they punished him. Koko would get the hot tag tag and the 4-way brawl was on but as Koko went for an O'Connor Roll, Cornette jabbed him in the head with the racket and Eaton covered for the win.

Terry Taylor vs. Pat Rose (7/17/84)

Squash.

Hacksaw Duggan & Junkyard Dog vs. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell & "Hacksaw" Butch Reed (7/17/84)

JYD isn't long for Mid-South and is looking quite fat along with being possibly drugged out of his gourd. Duggan is FIP here and takes a beating from the heels. JYD has enough and comes in for a big brawl until Cornette & Herc show up and Cornette pulls down the top rope as Duggan is running for the DQ. They attack Duggan on the floor until Sonny King shows up to help but the MX show up too. JYD is getting beaten on until Duggan shows up with the 2x4 but Herc would get that from him and bashed Sonny King in the shoulder. JYD & Reed are still going at it as King is getting bashed then Duggan eats a spike piledriver before JYD runs everyone off with the chain. This was a wild brawl.
