In most situations like that, it is impossible to pull them away from their "warden". They will see it as an attack on their significant other. Or the SO will freak out on them. It's all about insecurity.

I'm gonna guess that the only fights this couple has had have been over Pokemon trading cards.

As I figured, he said his wife saw that someone new joined the board and he knew it was me (I joined with a username that he would definately know was me). He seemed pretty open to re-establishing things so that's all good. He's going in front of the promotion board soon to become Sargent so I'm preparing a slew of GI Joe/ Sgt Slaughter jokes for the next time I see him.

 

I put feelers out about when he plans to visit home again, I know he's going to want to see Episode III with his fellow geeks.

This has all the makings of an affair.

It's really sad when you have to sneak around to talk to someone who was your best friend. Even sadder when you have to resort to doing it through a message board.
