Posted July 24, 200718 yr comment_5419700 This was pretty damn great, It is fun to watch Sting work as stooging heel, This was a suprisingly great performance from Bobby Fulton who usually kind of stinks. Crazy hot crowd, and a great Watts style clusterfuck ending. I think this makes a DVD, although I know these two teams wrestled each other a bunch, so I would have to see how this stands in the series
July 26, 200718 yr comment_5419798 I think this is the match where Fulton does the seated 619s. Really hot finish and that Fulton spot was awesome. It did have a bunch of messyness and I imagine there will be lots better stuff. I don't want to be the wet blanket killing Phil's wrestling buzz but this really is a "cusp"pick.
September 16, 200718 yr comment_5421925 LOVE the early Gilbert/Fulton slugfest, love the off guard sunset flip, love the Sting posing, love the pseudo-Andre in the ropes sell by Sting of a Tommy Rogers dropkick, love the aforementioned seated 619s, loved the well-executed ref bump, loved Gilbert's awesome belly-to-back suplex, and the dueling top rope outside interference stuff is pretty fun too. It's short, but I gotta side with Phil here -- this match is a good pick for the DVD. I would also say it belongs.
November 16, 200717 yr comment_5423972 If we are going to compare this to the Houston match, I liked this one much better. The ending flowed much better and it had more memorable spots from beginning to end even if the match is comparable. I think this is a respectable yes.
December 3, 200717 yr comment_5424755 UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting (8/31/86) Missy & Tatum are in the corner of the heels. There is something about the Fants working in Tulsa as they pretty much at their best in Tulsa. Gilbert is awesome early selling Fulton’s offense and Sting was really good at selling too plus his stooging like Phil pointed out. I loved Fulton’s low kicks on Gilbert as he was trying to get away to make the hot tag to Rogers. The 4-way brawl was on with Sting picking up Fulton for a slam then swinging his legs knocking Carl Fergie out. Fulton & Sting would tumble over the top rope to the floor as Gilbert demolished Rogers with a backdrop suplex. Tatum gets on the apron and they try to double clothesline Rogers but he ducks and hits a cross body block on Gilbert but there is no referee. Tatum would then dive off the top rope with a knee hitting Rogers on the back of the head so the Link comes out and hits his diving headbutt on Gilbert as the 4-way brawl is back on. Link & Tatum then start brawling making this a DDQ. This is a wild brawl that Dark Journey & Missy Hyatt get in on as well. This was fun stuff and should move forward.
