Posted July 24, 200718 yr comment_5419702 This is a top five match easy, pretty much the poster child for UWF style wrestling, two big rawboned guys pounding on each other. Just great piledrivers from both guys, and alot of really wreckless looking brawling. I really liked the multiple ref bump bullshit finish too. How many matches between these two do we have?
July 27, 200718 yr comment_5419935 This was all kinds of awesome. This is the type of wrestling that Watts loved. The payback spots in this are just great. Gordy smashing Doc's shoulder into the ringpost a few times was brutal. Gordy giveing Doc the piledriver played into the injury angle was superb. Doc makeing his comeback and using the same spots were great. This was a good give and take brawl that told a great story.
September 18, 200718 yr comment_5421972 Wow. Definitely the best match I've watched so far, and stands as good a chance of being the #1 pick when all is said and done as anything else. Awesome, awesome match that really sums up this era and promotion so well.
September 19, 200718 yr comment_5422093 UWF Heavyweight Title: Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy © vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (9/14/86) Doc comes in like a fuckin madman so the tone has been set for this match already being an all-action brawl but they start out though on the ground playing to Doc’s amateur background. Man there were some great punches thrown in this one and the work in general was just some great big-man fighting, like Phil said earlier the prototypical Bill Watts type of match. I loved the psychology of the piledriver that was used here with Doc trying to give Gordy his own medicine and he hit some great ones. Gordy juicing was choice and his agility missing the 180 splash off the middle rope on Carl Fergie was tremendous. The whole finish with the referees was and the double pin was great just because that wasn’t a real common finish then. Jim Ross was also great on this on commentary getting the whole deal over. A tremendous match and a slam dunk nomination.
