The WWE dumpster fire continues...

Wrestling Inc.: WWE Issuing Violations For Social Media Posts Naming Third Parties

Quote

WWE is issuing “violations” to talent for tweets or Instagram posts naming any third party business, person, brand or charity, Wrestling Inc. has learned.

Wrestling Inc. has learned that the violations start with a warning, then a fine, and finally suspension. The company is claiming ownership of talent Twitter and Instagram accounts via a clause in their contracts that grants WWE the exclusive use of their likeness.

These people are insane. Batshit insane. I'm sure those people working for them must be so proud and happy that they represent such a wonderful company. Uh, Daniel Bryan ?... (I mean, I'm sure some actually do because that's what brainwashing does to you)

Lance Storm brought up something interesting on the most recent F4D

He said that a lot of the guys and gals these days get free ready made meals and things of that nature from various local joints and healthy mail order meal plan deals where talent will endorse them on twitter or whatever and they'll get free food sent to them for the plugs.  He said a ton of the talent does it these days, and given most of them are on downsides and aren't working house shows this is a big deal to them

It's insane that they're screwing their "independent contractors" like this at all, let alone in a pandemic when they can't even work to maximize their earnings

"Greed id good".

WWE business practice is fascinating (and repulsive) to watch because it's über-capitalism in a nutshell.

If you look at a match, like say, Roddy vs. Finn from this week, when Roddy does his running forearms, the camera shots show how obvious it is with him slapping the thigh to the point of outright laughter.

Also, this is what you get when you fire Hero, who's the greatest audible strike wrestler maybe ever and knew how to hide it well.

Will they fine Nia and Shayna every time they concuss someone ?

This is ridiculous. Kota Ibushi fucking slaps his tighs. I guess he doesn't know how tow work either. It's a simple trope. The best guys and biggest stars would stomp while punching for ever (yes, that includes Bret Hart, The Rock, Steve Austin), that was just as idiotic. Fining the workers is just yet another exploitative bullshit move from the pieces of shit who run that company.

The real issue is not thigh slapping. The issue is that too many people have mid-range offense that is too similar to other people on the roster.

I think both are the problem. Too many people overdoing the same moves up and down the card is an issue regardless if they do thigh slaps or not. But doing it so overtly is an issue too, just look at the last two clips posted, that's from the two top stars from NXT, it's kinda hard to expect people not to get used to doing it that badly when Ciampa, Gargano (and Cole, and Strong) do it like that. It's a slippery slope imo, if every top star was doing punches like Shane McMahon in every match, I would hope people would take issue with it. Thigh slapping has gotten to that level of bad, imo.

No one knows or even notices who he is. For most people, and that included me for ever, he's just a short jacked up orange referee.

BTW, this Andrade thing is the story of modern WWE. Then sign a hot lucha libre superstar. They deprive him of *everything* that made him cool in Mexico. Surprisingly, he doesn't get over. Then he turns heel and gets paired with Vega and magic happens. He has that match with Gargano which was deemed by some as the greatest WWE match ever. He goes up to the main roster. They eventually split him up with Vega. He vanishes because Heyman who wanted to push fresh talent ain't got the book anymore. 5 years after, he asks for his release despite being engaged to one of the biggest name in the company. Meanwhile, The Miz got a world title push and Edge is main eventing Mania.
