April 26, 20232 yr comment_6003436 It's very difficult for any WWE news to truly disgust me, has been the case since at least 2016, but all of this shit has managed to do exactly that. Especially the Mansoor shit. As a brown man who was once asked to change seats while on a flight in the USA because my presence was making the old white lady sitting next to me "uncomfortable", all I can say is fuck you Callahan, whoever you are, if there is a hell, you will rot and burn forever in it. A bunch of "media personalities" who act like passionate advocates of racial equity when it comes to non-WWE pro wrestling sure are silent right now. The grift cannot be more obvious.
April 26, 20232 yr comment_6003437 Speaking of lawsuits: It should be noted that Mansoor was five years old when 9/11 happened. Is the idea supposed to be that he was some kind of boy genius?
April 26, 20232 yr comment_6003440 Is Sean Waltman the only DX member to apologize for his involvement in that skit? Of course, let's not forget this:

How was this Callahan dude allowed to keep his job? Does he still work there?

April 26, 20232 yr comment_6003445 Vince McMahon said the N-word on live television and made his top black wrestler stand there and say his catchphrase in response. I’m pretty sure it would not be hard to prove a hostile work environment, and I’m frankly surprised they haven’t been sued more often for that kinda bullshit.
April 26, 20232 yr comment_6003453 I don't often say this but this Callahan dude is dangerous. The kind of batshit racist that would totally do horrible things just to get a kick out of it. Regarding the pitch that "Mansoor did 9/11", not only it is racist, but why the fuck would you even do that when Mansoor is of Saudi heritage and they are one of their business partners? What the fuck?

April 27, 20232 yr comment_6003476 If Mercedes is interested in napalming that bridge, she should give that writer's lawyer a call. I would bet money she has some info they'd liked to hear.
April 27, 20232 yr comment_6003501 Looking back, it seems like there were a disproportionate number of WWE feuds that ended with a racist heel (or babyface) having the last laugh against a POC.
April 29, 20232 yr comment_6003570 After reading about the Ashley Massaro/Tribute for the Troops shit, nothing about WWE surprises me anymore. That place is an acid pit of filth, ran by people with no morals or apathy, that get away with everything.

May 4, 20232 yr comment_6003920 The Headbangers just signed ‘general nostalgia contracts’. That verbiage depresses me. Guess that takes the place of the Legends contracts or ‘general nostalgia’ covers lower tier people that don’t qualify as ‘Legends’. The older I get the more garbage the world becomes.
May 9, 20232 yr comment_6004193 I'm genuinely surprised there wasn't another big post-WrestleMania talent lay off this year.
May 9, 20232 yr Author comment_6004195 I don’t know if the hiring freeze is still in effect, but either way I’m not very surprised given the Endeavor deal. The optics, which I imagine would be increasingly more scrutinized given that development, would perhaps not be in favor of the situation.
May 9, 20232 yr comment_6004197 I assume that if/when there'll be layoffs, those will mostly be staff-related with Endeavor using most of their staff to fill in some positions within WWE.

When they bought UFC, it wasn’t long before they started firing people like crazy. Including people who Dana White had given so-called “lifetime jobs” to, like Chuck Liddell.
May 17, 20232 yr comment_6004518 Despite their many failures and disappointments, I can't help but be impressed by the WWE empire. They've weathered the storm from the pandemic, AEW, Vince's fiasco and somehow came out stronger. I saw an interview with Becky Lynch a while back, she was shaking her head during it saying they're on a whole other level as a production, and it's true. I'm astounded McMahon actually got $9 billion for the company. I continue to believe VKM is a starmaker and "still got it".
May 17, 20232 yr comment_6004519 The best thing Vince did was get WWE to the point where it basically runs itself. As long as they keep getting TV money, they will always be profitable. The pandemic was probably the worst case scenario in terms of potential disasters, and they really didn't miss a beat. With the Thunderdome deal they managed to return to a level of normalcy no other sport was able to, and other than the initial few weeks where the whole world was trying to figure out wtf to do next they just kept on trucking.
May 17, 20232 yr comment_6004535 WWE isn't just coasting on TV money, though. The product is genuinely hot right now. And the idea that the company is on autopilot with Vince having little or no direct involvement flies in the face of everything we know about the guy. Regardless, given his long record of crimes against decency (not to mention actual crimes), Vince is someone for whom the classic dril tweet holds true. You do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to him.
May 17, 20232 yr comment_6004543 Part one of Robert Evans Behind The Bastards six part series on McMahon dropped yesterday. It's great stuff and hasn't even gotten to McMahon yet. Part one covers the origins of wrestling, some old time stories, and the Von Erichs.
