April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914830 Them releasing Drake is weird since they've just announced the Interim Cruiserweight Tournament. Lio is a pretty specific case and he seems to be focused on something else. What bugs me the most is releasing only Karl Anderson. Do they have other plans for Gallows?
April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914831 No doubt they're going to cut talent. The traveling crew though, people that put together the stage, production, moving the equipment, etc., those employees will really get pinched. I wonder if there's less fear of AEW since they're not in a great position to capitalize on talent. A boom market for wrestlers has completely dried up in a span of six weeks.
April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914832 They updated the article. Gallows is gone too. As is Eric Young. The Drake thing makes it clear that the call and these firings are a last-second decision.
April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914833 @rovert suggested on Twitter that NJPW could use Karl Anderson as the US liaison for New Japan and that would definitely be a smart move, in my book. He could only work the NJPWofA shows without going to Japan.
April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914835 Drake Maverick being fired is such a boneheaded decision. He was just as much responsible as R-Truth for the success of the 24-7 division. Lio Rush being fired sucks too, but he'll become a star elsewhere. Gallows and Anderson are shockers because they just main evented WrestleMania. Then again, so did Eric Bischoff. I wonder how AJ Styles must be feeling right now. Not happy, I'm guessing. Releasing Slater is also stupid because you could at least get a mini-program out of him with Drew and/or Drew and Jinder. The rest were expected but still sad. Mike Kanellis lives another day (for now).

NJPW of America is a DOA joke - NJPW has zero clue how to navigate the American market - but if Karl can make some scratch for a couple of years while NJPW incompetently bankrolls this inevitably failed experiment, good on him.

April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914841 IMO, these releases prove that AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt have zero sway with anyone important in WWE - otherwise, their best friends and dad, respectively, would not have gotten future endeavored. Sad but true.

April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914847 Most vicious 'deavors season ever. With all these agents getting released, NXT fans better get used to soap opera "storytelling" in every match on the card now.

Weird. Update: Now I see it. Had to exit back to the main page and click on the link again.
April 15, 20205 yr Author comment_5914852 I wonder what this means for their international operations. If these men and women, some of whom have worked there a very long time, are being let go then I'd have to they would be more susceptible to being cut.
April 15, 20205 yr comment_5914853 I dunno what is going on with Vince in the last 5-6 days, but wow. Hasn't Chioda been with WWE forever?
