Posted July 25, 200718 yr comment_5419741 Handicap Match: Hacksaw Duggan & Ricky Morton vs. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) & Jim Cornette (Summer 1984) Robert Gibson got jumped before the match so he was unable to compete making this a handicap match. This match was all about the MX getting their ass kicked and Cornette not getting his kicked. MX bump like maniacs here especially for Duggan’s punches which were great. Crowd was super hot for the face in peril sections. Eaton broke out a nice one-arm DDT on Duggan to which they continued to work on the arm for a while. MX did a great job of keeping Duggan in their part of the ring and Corny got to get his shots in also. Duggan got the hot tag to Morton after a double clothesline and he went nuts on the MX and the match turned into a brawl. Gibson came back out to chase Corny around the ring and in this confusion, Condrey threw the tennis racket to Eaton who smashed Morton with it for the pin. This was a fun little match but there will be more from these guys that will be better. Mid-South TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (8/24/84) This was JIP so it won’t make the cut. North American Heavyweight Title: Junkyard Dog © vs. Nikolai Volkoff (Early 1984) This match had insane heat and it made this match a lot better at the start but as the match went on it grew worse and worse. JYD worked in and out of a reverse chinlock forever. Volkoff got his heat though and the crowd was wild for JYD trying to escape the clutches of Volkoff. JYD’s shaking building up to his comeback was hilarious. JYD made his comeback and there was 2 ref bumps and Volkoff launched JYD over the top rope to the floor and threw him into the ringpost. Volkoff rolls the ref in the ring and helps him try to count JYD out but the referee fell down. Volkoff soon KOed JYD and picked him up for his backbreaker for the apparent 3 count by another referee but wouldn’t you know it, the original referee rolled in and got Volkoff DQed. There was a pull-apart brawl after the match of course that was loads better than the real match. This also won’t make the cut. Tim Horner vs. Dale Veasy (Fall 1984) Fine match but nothing special although Veasy should’ve got a better push because he had a good look and could work. Horner wins with a swank russian legsweep. The Fantastics vs. Krusher Khruschev & Buddy Landell (8/16/84) JIP also won’t make the cut. Hacksaw Duggan & Terry Taylor vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (November 1984) This match is all about Duggan getting revenge on DiBiase for jumping him in the parking lot in his return to Mid-South TV. Tulsa was really hot for any exchange between the two. DiBiase was awesome here bumping and selling like crazy for Duggan & Taylor. Taylor got the heat and was worked over really well here. Duggan gets the hot tag and it breaks down from there but DiBiase loads up the glove and hits Taylor for the win. I really liked this match a lot and it’s a definite maybe for me. North American Heavyweight Title: Magnum TA © vs. Butch Reed (October 1984) JIP won’t make the cut. Hacksaw Duggan/Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers vs. Ted DiBiase/Hercules Hernandez/”Dr. Death” Steve Williams (10/25/84) I had this is as a nominee previously when I watched my stuff but from watching it in full, I didn’t like it as much as I did before. Still a really good match though.

If this makes the set it will be the least of the MX v. R+R's on the set. So advance it for now, but I could see this going in the first round of cuts North American Heavyweight Title: Junkyard Dog © vs. Nikolai Volkoff (Early 1984) Too bad this sucked, cool at the beginning but the chinlocks were endless. Finish was fun, but no Hacksaw Duggan & Terry Taylor vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (November 1984) I am going to go no on this, Duggan was off the chain, but Taylor and Williams were non factors and DiBiase bumping for Duggan is something we have a ton of Hacksaw Duggan/Bobby Fulton/Tommy Rogers vs. Ted DiBiase/Hercules Hernandez/”Dr. Death” Steve Williams (10/25/84) Yeah this was all Duggan too, he was great but a ton of it was other stuff
