Posted July 26, 200718 yr comment_5419841 Really great old school come as you are streetfight. Reed and Hernandez bump all over the ring for Dusty and Duggan and it really has the street fight vibe. Reed was just amazing here. Dusty has so much charisma, as is just made for this kind of jeans and workboots fight.
July 27, 200718 yr comment_5419917 The Dusty/Duggan vs. Reed/Hercules match was just a really great brawl. The early stooge spots and Reed's selling of them was really well executed. When both heels were feeding Dusty which ended with double bionic elbows was so great. Hercules took some really nice backdrops from Duggan. The crowd was super hot for this. If this took place in ECW it would be called one of the all time great matches in that promotion.I also liked how the come as you are factor played into the finish. Reed had just an amazing performance here.I would call this a lock for inclusion.
September 18, 200718 yr comment_5421970 The ref was way out of position when Cornette and the heels were trying to work an interference spot. That's about the only weakness here. When they stop trying to work a standard tag and it turns into more of a tornado brawl, that's the point when the match really gets great. I'd say include this on the DVD.
September 25, 200718 yr comment_5422212 Bunkhouse Match: Hercules Hernandez & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Hacksaw Duggan (8/19/84) This is also from Tulsa and Dusty’s specialty match, so of course it’s a wild brawl as soon as the faces enter the ring. Tulsa crowd is going apeshit for Dusty and he is totally in his element here as he just pounds the living fuck out of the heels and Reed’s selling alone is phenomenal with Herc’s looking great also. Duggan gets in and it’s more of the same as Herc gets to take the beating from him as Dusty continues to kick the shit out of Reed on the floor. Duggan starts whipping Herc with his leather belt but a knee to the back by Reed and neckdrop across the top rope turned the tide of the match. The heels then began to start give the faces a dose of their own medicine as Butch uses a steel chair on Dusty on the floor which of course brought out the juice. Dusty gets doubleteamed for a bit but Dusty becomes the BULLODAWOODS and starts clubberin the heels with double bionic elbows and knuckle sandwiches. Cornette would get involved by throwing powder in Duggan’s eyes and as Reed tries a piledriver, Dusty reverses into a backdrop but Herc put something on his boot and kicked Dusty in the head as he tried a pinfall thus giving the match to the heels. This was a fantastic brawl and a slam dunk nomination.
