I liked this match a ton, and probably more then anyone else. Really great highspot v. power guy match, and Skip Young has great timing on all of his early 80's highspots. Reed is of course on of the best power wrestlers ever, and breaks out some crazy flying spots too. Makes a set IMO, would like to hear from the peanut gallery though

I don't know if I'm just in a good mood or what, but wow. This one totally blew me away, and could possibly end up in my top 20.

I think every great worker should have a great match against someone much lower on the totem pole on his resume. This is Butch Reed's. Main event guy versus talented midcarder with talented midcarder coming close to winning it all, and having everyone in the building think he might do it, only to lose in the end, is my favorite type of match. But Skip Young also really surprised me here. This isn't a match I would have probably ever taken the time to watch just based on the names, which is a shame, because I would have been missing something great. I knew Butch Reed ruled, but Skip Young is pretty good too. Love that they went as long as they did, and thought all the matwork was put over exceptionally well. The stun gun followed by middle rope legdrop finish was pretty great too.

This is really high end Ric Flair/George South from TBS. Not in terms of the wrestling style, but in terms of the match layout.

I thought this terriffic. Butch just oozed heel charisma. Reed's stalling early was great. He did it for a perfect amount of time to keep it entertaing. He never came close to boreing me. Skip was great at playing plucky babyface. His timing on his offensive moves were great. Both men played their roles to perfection. Phil summed it up best calling it a great highspot vs. power guy match. The atomic drop reversal spot was great. I loved how the finish played into all of Reed's work on Skip's neck. This gets a major thumbs up from me.

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Sweet Brown Sugar (Skip Young) (9/23/84)

Sugar was like Don Muraco in the fact that he worked when he felt like it and wrestling wasn’t his primary desire in life as preaching was. Sugar in his heyday when he wore the mask was a spectacular wrestler and still was damn great at this time. Reed was at his peak as a worker in this time period and matched Sugar for athletic ability, which not many did at this time. Reed was such a great heel here with his selling and bumping plus with great heel charisma in general. The match itself was a damn solid match and a surefire nomination.
