Posted July 29, 200718 yr comment_5419991 Mid-South Tag Titles: Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams © vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (6/30/85) RnR came out and jumped Teddy & Doc before the match taking their titles and it starts out with all four men going at it. One thing about the early part of the match was there was no sound for the first couple of minutes but it finally kicks in. Teddy & Doc were great at being stooging heels stalling for time on the floor and did chickenshit heel spots like Doc complaining about his tights being pulled. The mood soon changed though as Doc threw Morton to the floor and Teddy picked him up and pressed him back first into the ringpost a couple of times. Doc & Morton was really fun to watch as Doc was just killing Morton with his backbreakers and Teddy finally got the tag at the 10 minute mark. The backwork continues with Teddy talking shit on both RnR so he & Doc can get a doubleteam slam for a nearfall. Both men tag in and out working on Morton’s back and Teddy even gets a bodyslam to the concrete as Doc distracts Gibson, which Teddy denied of course to the referee. Doc uses some bearhugs to really weaken Morton’s back whipping the Tulsa crowd up. Teddy gets back in the ring and goes to work with his Boston Crab but Morton uses what power he has left to thrust Teddy into the corner. Gibson finally gets the hot tag and the brawl is on but Doc accidentally hits the referee with a clothesline and Gibson gets Doc in an O’Connor Roll but Doc powers him into the corner. Gibson then gets clocked with a chair by DiBiase as he runs the ropes and Doc covers for the win. This is another match that I really liked from this show and a finish with Teddy & Doc that doesn’t include a loaded glove or armbrace. Really solid match and I’m going to nom this.
July 30, 200718 yr comment_5420027 This was match was fantastic in the story that was laid out. The early portion of Doc and Ted stooging for the RNRoll was so great. Ted and Doc just bumping around like a pinball was tremedous. Doc stooging off the attempted slams was great as well. The RNRoll really shined early off the great antics by Doc and Dibiase. Big spot of the match was Williams pressing Morton off a pinfall attempt to the outside. Dibiase then picks him up and just rams his back into the outside ringpost. This leads to some tremedous work on Morton's back. I mean they stomped, dbl slammed, suplexes, body slams on the floor, bear hugs, vicious looking back breakers, Boston crabs etc. Morton sold the work on his back beautifully. Especially his rag doll selling. The crowd pops big for the hot tag. For the finish their was a ref bump so Gibson had a visual pin, but eventually takes a wicked looking bump into a steel chair. The layout of the match was great, and both teams executed on their ends for a great match.

Dibiase is 10x better than Gino and Doc was looking especially good here. Ricky Morton was doing his Ricky Morton and I love how Doc and Dibiase were working over Morton's back the entire time. The finish was pretty sweet but I wish that more of these Mid South tag matches had extended finishes with more false finishes and pin attempts. I think this should go to the next round but i don't know that I will vote it high in the polls. Yes vote but nothing I would go to the wall for.
December 17, 200717 yr comment_5425509 This was the best match on this show, but just falls a bit short of disc level. Morton was awesome here, but this felt similar to the Houston match which had alot of the same stuff, but was better. Still if we put something on from this disc, this should be the match
