Brett Sawyer vs. Gustavo Mendoza (4/27/86)

Mendoza is pretty good here and so was Sawyer.

Kortsia Korchenko vs. Tracy Smothers (4/27/86)

Poor Tracy had no chance.

Chavo Guerrero & Dave Peterson vs. Rick Steiner & Buzz Sawyer (4/27/86)

Pretty decent match with a sloppy finish. Chavo & Buzz brawled with each other after the match until Steiner came back with the chain and they hung Chavo over the top rope.

UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) (4/27/86)

Jack Victory & Lady Maxine are in the Sheeps’ corner so Terry Taylor & Dr. Death come out to be in the Fantas corner. Sheeps beat the piss out of Rogers busting him open throughout most of the match. Fulton gets in the ring and IT’S BREAKING LOOSE IN TULSA as all 4 men brawl. Taylor nailed Jack Victory as he tried to get on the apron as Doc held off Lady Maxine. Taylor & Victory then brought their brawl to the ring and the match ended in a no contest as TV time ran out. I liked this match but these two teams had better matches.

Blade Runner Rock (Jim Hellwig) vs. Tracy Smothers (4/27/86)

Squash city but god damn did the Blade Runners music by Styx rule.

Bobby Fulton vs. Gustavo Mendoza (4/27/86)

Not a bad match but after the match is where it got good as the Sheepherders destroyed Fulton with a flagpole until Rogers made the save.

Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts vs. Dave Peterson & Brett Sawyer (4/27/86)

This is the Birds first TV match for the UWF and a great way for them to come back as they really shined here.

Hacksaw Duggan & Koko Ware vs. Kortsia Korchenko & Sting (4/27/86)

Gilbert was supposed to wrestle here but of course he chickened out and Sting was his replacement. Duggan & Koko make this a fun match because their opponents were both terrible and green respectively. Rock ended up making it a 3-way brawl after the match and they tried to lay the Russian flag on Duggan until Dr. Death cleaned house but they got the best of him. Gilbert summoned Akbar in the ring and he tried to burn Doc with a fireball but Duggan blocked it with a chair. Tremendous angle post match.

Terry Taylor vs. Jack Victory (4/27/86)

TV time ended before the match was over and very short while it lasted.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Mr. Olympia (6/24/83)

This is from Houston and JIP.

“Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Tarras Bulba (Early 1986)

This was basicallly a squash.

Terry Taylor vs. Lord Humongous (December 1985)

Humongous is leaving and Taylor is returning so you know the drill here. Humongous dominates Taylor early and uses his mask as a weapon of course. Taylor makes a comeback with his usual flurry of punches but this time to the body due to the mask but Taylor tried to elbow him in the head and that hurt. Humongous hit Humperdink by accident and Taylor hit the five-arm off the middle rope to get the big win.

Ted DiBiase vs. Dick Murdoch (12/31/85)

This is from Oklahoma City and this is the big grudge match as it had been a month since the Ric Flair angle. DiBiase has his black glove on and uses it at will on Murdoch’s head. Murdoch gets the advantage and immediately goes for DiBiase’s neck using elbows and forearms to the back of the neck. Murdoch is great here being cold and calculating with the work on the neck and smashed DiBiase’s head on the ringside table to bust him open for good measure. Murdoch is working really stiff here with his punches and a kick to the head that was brutal but DiBiase comes back with his own punches including the diving fistdrop. DiBiase busts Murdoch open and starts biting the wound so we have double juice going here and the hatred is showing. Murdoch gets the advantage back though by raking his eyes and as DiBiase was loading the glove, Murdoch knees him in the back and sends him to the floor. Murdoch then drops DiBiase neck first across the security railing. Murdoch then grabs a chair and starts ramming it in DiBiase’s neck until Tommy Gilbert pulls it away. DiBiase rolls back in the ring and meets a diving elbow smash for a nearfall. Murdoch then goes back to the stiff punches and kicks and then breaks out the old Ivan Koloff finisher as he climbs the top rope grabbing DiBiase by the back of the head and driving him down to the mat with his knee. DiBiase kicks out of the pinfall attempt and loads his glove up before Murdoch goes for the brainbuster that DiBiase countered out of and just jacked Murdoch’s jaw with the glove for the win. Great heated brawl and a tremendous crowd in OKC to boot. Definite DVD pick.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Jesse Barr (7/29/83)

This is from Houston and JIP.

Kamala vs. David Diamond (Late 1984)

Total squash.

The Fantastics vs. Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantell (9/22/85)

This is complete on one of the House Show DVD’s so I’ll wait on that one.

Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts vs. The Rock n Roll Express (6/24/85)

Already watched this on a House Show DVD.

Kamala vs. Tracy Smothers (5/11/86)

Kamala returns to the UWF and squashes young Tracy.

Kortsia Korchenko vs. Perry Jackson (5/11/86)

Yet another squash and Watts is really going selling the Russian shit on commentary. Doc attacks Korchenko after the match for draping the flag on Jackson and beats Korchenko up until the Bladerunners attack. DiBiase runs out and helps clear the ring. The beginning of the Watts angle starts after the break where Watts calls Gilbert into the ring and tells him to quit laying the Russian flag on people. Hot Stuff International comes out in full force to protect Gilbert which prompts Doc to come running out but he is restrained until Watts take a cheap shot at Korchenko. DiBiase runs in and the war is on as IT’S BREAKIN DOWN IN TULSA!!!!!!!!!!!! Watts is laying the punches in on the Bladerunners as Doc & DiBiase take care of the rest. Jim Ross fuckin rules on the commentary. No doubt in my mind that the whole angle must go on the set.

Ted DiBiase vs. Gustavo Mendoza (5/11/86)

Michael Hayes joins Jim Ross on commentary and one of the greatest announce teams ever is born. DiBiase was tremendous in this as he was at his peak of his career in the ring.

Jack Victory vs. Dave Peterson (5/11/86)

Victory looked pretty good here and won with the gourdbuster.

The Fantastics vs. Rick Steiner & Buzz Sawyer (5/11/86)

Very good fast paced start to this match with all four men working hard. Rogers hit a great dropkick on Buzz that knocked him from the ring to the floor and Buzz sold it like death. This match was really really hot but the TV time ran out before the finish which sucked.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (5/9/86)

Steiner reminds me so much of Manabu Nakanishi here in his look it’s uncanny. Steiner had Buzz at ringside giving him advice on how to beat Chavo but the story here is that Chavo is just too good and experienced that he can outsmart the powerful young rookie. Chavo was a great opponent for Steiner at this time in his career as he could make Steiner look great and help him out with the psychology of the match. Chavo wins the match eventually with a Misteriorana but gets pounded on by the heels after the match but Chavo made a comeback and chased them off with a chair. Good match.

Kamala vs. Ricky Gibson (5/11/86)

Poor Gibson gets squashed.

UWF TV Title: Buzz Sawyer © vs. Koko Ware (5/9/86)

Lots of stooging around early in the match by Buzz but he starts an onslaught of punches and as Koko tries to turn the tide, Buzz pulls the referee in front of him not once but twice. Buzz really works on the ribs of Koko using his beard and biting to really weaken him down. Buzz used a nice running backbreaker to really crush Koko before going back to putting his weight on the fallen Koko. Koko eventually made his comeback and now Chavo is at ringside rooting on Koko as both men tried to dropkick each other at the same time and missed. Koko gets a backslide on Buzz for a long 2 count and counters a suplex for another 2 count as the time is ticking. They were on their knees trading shots before Koko hits a cross body block for a 2 count at the bell with the match ending in a draw. Solid match and a maybe pick.

Gustavo Mendoza vs. Perry Jackson (5/11/86)

Very good competitive match between the two guys who job to the big boys. Gustavo threw a great clothesline and used a real short snap neckbreaker to win. Really good match.

Ted DiBiase vs. Gary Young (5/11/86)

Michael Hayes was killin DiBiase on commentary throughout the entire match. DiBiase was so damn good in this and Young wasn’t quite yet Gorgeous. DiBiase threw a great clothesline here taking Young’s head off.

The Sheepherders vs. Brett Sawyer & Tracy Smothers (5/11/86)

Sawyer & Smothers give a great account of themselves especially Sawyer but they just couldn’t take out the Sheeps. Still a really solid TV match which was great about UWF at this time as just about every TV match was at least good.

Kamala vs. Dave Peterson (5/11/86)

The Kamala matches were the exception to the previous rule but they were needed for his gimmick. Duggan comes running to ringside before the match and decides to take Peterson’s place, well this is a better option. Duggan starts in on Kamala immediately and Kamala sells a Duggan clothesline like death. Duggan kills him with punches but Kamala gets the advantage and starts using his chops on Duggan taking him down. The brawl goes to the floor where Duggan gets the advantage and rams Kamala head first into the announce table. The brawl goes back to the ring and Duggan hits his big spear and IT’S BREAKIN DOWN IN TULSA but Kamala gets the advantage back taking him down with a big foot and hits his big splash but Duggan kicks out as Jim Ross goes completely apeshit. Kamala chops the referee out of frustration causing the DQ as Akbar enters the ring but Kamala chops him by accident. Duggan sends Kamala out of the ring and goes for a spear on Akbar but he ducks out as well as Duggan IS WALKING TALL. This was tremendous and needs to go on DVD as an extra.

Jack Victory vs. ? (5/11/86)

Dark Journey now a babyface said that she had someone that could defeat Lady Maxine’s man Jack Victory on this block earlier and before the match Maxine jumps DJ while Victory holds her so she could use her whip on DJ. This was to setup the Missing Link coming to town to take care of business.

Terry Taylor vs. Michael Hayes (5/11/86)

DiBiase is on commentary so you can probably tell what is going to happen here. Hayes says before the match if DiBiase is on commentary so DiBiase goes ahead down to the ring and pleads with Taylor to take his spot. Taylor tells Teddy to wear him out so the match starts in a wild brawl. DiBiase’s punches were so great here taking Hayes to the floor with 1 minute left of TV time. DiBiase pounds Hayes’ head into the turnbuckles as the credits roll and continues the punching attack as TV time runs out.

Ted DiBiase vs. Dick Murdoch (12/31/85)

This was spectacular, I love Murdoch constantly rabbit punch DiBiase in the back of the head, and the blood and punching. This should obviously make a list, and I imagine I will put it really high.

UWF TV Title: Buzz Sawyer © vs. Koko Ware (5/9/86)

This was a long Houstinish match, that never really kicks it into gear. I loved Buzz Sawyer beard burning Koko, but too much time killing to put it on a disc
