Posted August 2, 200718 yr comment_5420105 Man was this great, probably the best MX v. R+R's match on this set. Ladd is still great in tags, and Duggan is so awesome at this point. So much to love here, Bobby Eaton dying on a clothesline, Cornette freaking out at ringside, lots of fun comedy spots. Really awesome Ricky Morton here too. Slamdunk pick, although there is some slight clipping which is irritating.
August 2, 200718 yr comment_5420119 Yeah, this is a great match. Date is 6/8/84 from Houston, TX, according to the MX career set Cornette was selling on the OVW website.
August 3, 200718 yr comment_5420152 This was just great. To start things off you had Jimmy take the mike from the ring announcer and the announcer shoots the Fuck You arm signal at him. I liked how they teased the big dogs starting it off. The big man liitle man spots between Ladd and Morton were so frickin kick ass. This lead to Morton finally outsmarting Ladd; and Ladd ate a dropkick as payback along with some armdrags. The crowd popped huge everytime Ladd went down. Ladd did some smart work in this. Eaton's spin bump off Hacksaw's clothesline was phenomenal. MX stooged their asses off for Duggan. condrey offense looked really strong especially when he was stomping a mudhole in Morton. Morton's selling was great as usual. When the ref missed the tag I thought the crowd was going to go into the ring; it was scary. This was really well worked. Did they work a double shot that night? I have another match listed between the six for the same date; but it's at the arena with the red mats.
August 3, 200718 yr Author comment_5420155 It could be this match is different from the Houston match, and the Houston match is the one from this date.
August 3, 200718 yr comment_5420159 Yeah this goes on the set. Ernie Ladd will pick you up for spots but you need to get down on your own. Morton really is great at making it look like he's being chucked.
November 5, 200717 yr Author comment_5423488 Ok this is the Tulsa version of this match from House Show Vol 12, the 6/6/84 Houston match from the Cornette set is a different match
November 5, 200717 yr comment_5423499 An enthusiastic yes from me as well. All of the MX 6-mans I have seen have been flat-out awesome.
November 20, 200717 yr comment_5424199 Hacksaw Duggan & The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Ernie Ladd & The Midnight Express (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton) (7/2/84) Everyone was great here including Ladd and this was a fuckin hot crowd. There isn’t much more to be said here that hasn’t been said already. A slam dunk nomination.
