This was an excellent match. This is from Houston. I haven't seen the other ones so I don't know how these compare. Dark Journey is wearing a classic crack whore, street walker outfit for tonights big match. The crowd is chanting DDT before the match begins. The arm work by both guys was fantastic. I loved how Jake held onto Slater's arm drags. I loved how Jake got his one arm tangled in the ropes and Slater just destroyed it with chair shots, and great arm work. Robert's selling of the arm was perfect. Another really cool spot was how Slater reversed the DDT into a Russian Leg Sweep. Even though Journey was in a cage Jake would shoot looks at her which made you not forget about her since she was going to have an impact in the match. Because Jake's arm was so destroyed he pulled his boot off and went to town. Both guys were really great here, and had an excellent match. I'm looking forward to see how these compare with their other matches with each other. So I'm throwing this on the nominating block.

Jake Roberts v Dick Slater (No DQ Journey in a cage above ringside) (2/28/86) (House 89) (22:25)

- A little slower than previous matches but Jake's arm stretch while planting his boot in Slater's cheek was a nice touch. Jake is just going to work on his arm, posting it outside, tying Slater up while tautning Journey, smashing it on the guardrail. Slater regaining control with good old fashioned heel work (poke in the eyes, running Jake into the post) is a nice touch which allows Slater to go to work on Jake's arm which is actually even more fun to watch than when Jake was in control. He fucking KILLS Jake's arm so much so that Jake sells the arm for the rest of the match. This didn't have the blood or was as fast paced but the selling and creativity of both men outshines anything that happened in any of the other matches. This gets an emphatic yes from me and Slater-Jake may be my 2nd favorite Mid South feud ever behind Duggan-Dibiase.

No DQ, No Time Limit, Dark Journey in a cage about the ring, North American Heavyweight Title vs. Mid-South TV Title: “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater © vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts (2/28/86)

This is Jake’s swansong in Mid-South and for this awesome feud. Jake would brutalize Slater’s left arm early in the match dropping it on the top rope then wrapping it around the ringpost before going to work on it on the mat. Jake would keep up the attack for a while in between Slater trying to fight back, which he would finally break free by raking the eyes. Slater tried for a piledriver but Jake would reverse then sent Slater back to the floor where he wrapped his arm around the railing but Slater would post him though. Slater would then work on Jake’s right arm by tieing it in the ring ropes and bashing it with a steel chair. The Houston crowd is going apeshit trying to rally Jake but Slater keeps the pressure on his arm. Slater would hit his piledriver for a nearfall but Jake would make a comeback by bashing Slater’s head on the turnbuckle then followed with a high kneelift. Jake would then take his boot off and started nailing Slater with it before going to a DDT but Slater would reverse with a russian legsweep. DJ would drop a chain from the cage and Slater would wrap it around his hand but Jake would catch him with a clothesline before using the chain himself but Slater would backdrop Jake over the top rope to the floor. Slater would climb on top rope and dropped an elbow on the back of Jake’s head for the 3 count. This was a great match and a definite nomination.
