Posted August 7, 200718 yr comment_5420274 This was a really entertaining match. I don't think I've ever seen these guys have a bad match with each other. Ted Dibiase is the heel here, and Jake is the anti-hero babyface. Like a lot of their matches Jake teases the DDT early on a few occasions. Both guys personalities carry the early portions of the match. Jake gets busted open with a loaded glove, and Ted works the cut. It was a basic story but Jakes selling and little spots made the story really compelling. Plus the crowd rallied behind Jake. Jake did this cool thing where he looked at his hands covered in blood before he started a comeback. Furthermore the finish for this was pretty neat. I thought the match was simple yet compelling and deserves a nomination.
September 27, 200718 yr comment_5422264 Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Ted DiBiase (7/22/85) This is from New Orleans and isn’t on the available house show stuff on UWA. Barbarian & Doc are at ringside with their respective partners and the crowd is firmly behind Jake chanting DDT loudly. The early part of this match is built around Jake trying to get the DDT on DiBiase but him escaping it and the crowd eats it all up. The tide turns a little though as when Jake chases DiBiase from the floor to the ring, DiBiase hits a diving fistdrop as Jake rolls in. DiBiase starts laying the punches in but Jake catches him flush with a high kneelift and as DiBiase gets up he loads the glove and jacks Jake’s jaw. Jake blades as soon as he gets hit and DiBiase loses his weapon with the ref looking at the glove to make sure it was clean. DiBiase gets a nearfall on Jake and continues to work on the cut with diving fistdrops then a barrage of different types of punches and kicks. DiBiase then locked in a sleeper to really weaken Jake but he would drop down with a jawbreaker to break the hold. Jake wipes the blood off his face on his hand and looks at it then becomes a maniac and starts annihilating DiBiase and when Doc tries to jump Jake, Barbarian takes care of him. Jake then picked up DiBiase and dropped him with the DDT to win and the New Orleans crowd is ballistic. Tremendous crowd heat and great work makes this a nomination.

September 29, 200718 yr comment_5422358 Yes, absolutely put this on the DVD. I liked the Jake/DiBiase match from MSG in '89 from the WWF set a lot, but I think it pales in comparison to this one. I guess this would be the first match to show up on more than one set.
December 17, 200718 yr comment_5425462 This was a bunch of fun, I loved DiBiase's first fist drop when Jake was coming into the ring, and you had a super insane hot crowd and cool finish. This totally smokes their outdoor match against each other, and I really don't think we need both
