Posted August 8, 200718 yr comment_5420319 The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) vs. El Corsario (Savio Vega) & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (11/11/85) Too bad that Dream Machine wasn’t Chop’s partner and Corsario is teaming with Doc because of the DiBiase injury angle 5 days earlier. Bruisers come out with both guns blazing as they whoop up on Corsario and Doc and get a quick win when Mad Dog hits a splash on Corsario. Dick Slater vs. Hacksaw Duggan (12/31/85) Big time grudge match in OKC and Duggan has his girlfriend/future wife in his corner to offset Dark Journey. Going into this match I expected great punches by Duggan and great selling/bumping/stooging by Slater and did I get it, yes I did. Man did this crowd hate Dark Journey as anytime she tried to cheer on Slater she would get booed. Slater was great in this as he could sell a beating like few others. DJ tried to give Slater some brass knux and there was catfight as this was happening with Duggan’s GF and DJ which led to Duggan getting the knux and using it on Slater to win the match. Or so it seemed as the referee found the knux and declared Slater the winner by DQ with the OKC crowd getting pissed off. Fine match but there were better between these two. Terry Taylor vs. Rob Rechsteiner (12/31/85) Rechsteiner is a green rookie but shows the potential and Taylor is the kind of guy that made him look good. Taylor gets the win with the five-arm. No DQ Dog Collar Match: “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (12/31/85) I have been looking forward to this match after reading shoe’s analysis. This is something that is missing in wrestling as these matches are always fun and wild with lots of blood and this one is no different. Buzz blades early in the match and Reed works on it something fierce with the soupbones and the chain. Buzz on offense is awesome as this is his match and he knows how to use the chain to his favor IE whipping Reed and wrapping it around his fists on punches. Reed gets back on offense and starts using Buzz’s tricks against him. Buzz tying Reed around the ring rope was fucking awesome as was the finish with Buzz running Reed to the other side of the ring cranking his neck back. Slater comes in after the match and it ends up being a wild brawl with Duggan involved also. This was a great bloody brawl and a definite DVD pick. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Sir Oliver Humperdink (12/31/85) Jake has one hand tied behind his back so this should be fun. OKC is nuts for Jake chanting DDT like crazy. Humpy gets the advantage early but you knew it wouldn’t last. Jake gets the comeback and Humongous tries to get involved but Jake backdrops him and pins Humpy for the win. Eddie Gilbert & The Nightmare vs. The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) (12/31/85) I’ll give the Bruisers credit, their gimmick was over with the crowd for sure. Bruisers jump Gilbert & Nightmare at the bell using their briefcase to run them out of the ring. Gilbert is his normal great chickenshit heel self here running to Humperdink for some consoling and all of his mannerisms are awesome. One thing about the Bruisers though, Chop was fun to watch but goddamn did Mad Dog Boyd suck dick in the ring. This wasn’t actually half-bad, as Chop & Gilbert were really good when they were in the ring. One Man Gang vs. Brett Sawyer (6/14/86) This is from the Superdome and pretty much what you would expect as Sawyer puts up a good fight but OMG takes him out with relative ease but gets DQed in the process. UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. Buzz Sawyer (6/14/86) Buzz is on his way out and has already lost the TV title to Taylor so you know the deal here. This was a fine match as both men were good here but it was nothing special although the powerslam by Buzz was as great as the ones he used back in GCW. Jack Victory vs. Koko Ware (6/14/86) This was JIP and looked like an okay match with Koko throwing some great punches. Dark Journey shows up staring down Lady Maxine and as this happens, Ware gets Victory in a schoolboy for the win. Of course a catfight ensues before Victory helps out Maxine but Koko made the save and DJ threw powder in Maxine’s eyes and kicked her in the cunt.
October 22, 200717 yr comment_5423004 Dick Slater vs. Hacksaw Duggan (12/31/85) Kris mentioned that there were better matches between the two, have we seen any? This was the only time I saw them against each other, I thought this was pretty great with Duggan having great looking punches. No DQ Dog Collar Match: “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (12/31/85) Both guys commited murder here, Reed was taking the chain across the face and Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Sir Oliver Humperdink (12/31/85) Humperdink is the worlds shittiest Abby here Eddie Gilbert & The Nightmare vs. The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) (12/31/85) I actually really loved this match. Just a great Memphis tag, Boyd really stinks, but he was fine as a face in peril. Porkchops was on fire, just throwing hands on everyone, Gilbert and the Nightmare were working really well with Cash, and the finish was awesome. I am nominating this UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. Buzz Sawyer (6/14/86) This was borderline, but I think it can stay off, man does Sawyer have a great powerslam
October 27, 200717 yr comment_5423155 Watching Buzz vs. Taylor was a little awkward after watching their TV sprint. This one was much slower paced and it is sad to think that they had to fill so much time with rest holds in order to have a ten minute + match. I also need to rewatch the Bruise-Gilbert/Nightmare match. My initial thoughts are it does not go on. It was a really good layout but these guys aren't very good IMO. I am on the fence so I want to know where TOM K or Loss stand.
October 29, 200717 yr comment_5423254 I think I voted yes on the Bruise Brothers v Nitghmare/Gilbert.
