Jake reminds me a lot of Steve Austin when he was feuding with Bret where the crowd seems like they are dieing to cheer for him. Jake took probaly 75% of the match so this was a Jake Roberts special. He was so good here doing little things. He was so good at being the cheapshotting heel. The interaction between Jake and the ref was priceless. I loved how Jake would taunt the ref or Brad when he had a simple headlock or arm bar on. The Finish was abrupt but neat. I don't mean to underscore Armstrong here as he sold really well, and made fiery comebacks that were cut off pretty quickly. I think this should be nominated to show off his great crowd psychology.

I did think Jake’s heel control was a little long, as this match probably would have been much better 7 minutes or so shorter. Jake did take 75%, which is a little much for a 20+ match. I loved all of the ref interactions too.

November 21, 200718 yr comment_5424258 Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Brad Armstrong (4/16/85) Brad looked good early in the match using some sharp punches but when Jake would take over brother he took over. Jake had one of the longest heel control sections I’ve seen on this set but it was pretty damn good as he knew what to do. Shoe was right on about Jake’s charisma in the ring here as even though he was a great worker, his timing and psychology was just as good as his ringwork if not better. The looks on Brad’s face during this was great as he looked like he was thinking “I hate this motherfucker so much.” The NO crowd was great here too as they got behind Brad even with Jake’s fans being vocal with their DDT chants. Brad made a good comeback finally but when he tried the figure-four, Jake would kick him into Ronnie West then took off his boot but Brad would backdrop him. Brad would fight Ronnie over the boot and got nuked with the DDT for the finish. This was a really solid match that built up to the crescendo well and a definite nomination.
