Posted August 8, 200718 yr comment_5420332 Steve “Dr. Death” Williams vs. Tom Renesto Jr. (1/5/83) Doc just finished his last football game at OU 4 days earlier and he is back in the ring. Doc is green in the pro wrestling style but shows off his amateur skills here. Watts pimps John Tenta again in commentary as well and I’m surprised that Watts never tried to get Tenta in the UWF days. Dick Murdoch vs. Marty Lunde (1/5/83) Lunde jumps Murdoch at the bell and that wasn’t the best idea. Murdoch looks great here. Kamala vs. Art Crews (1/5/83) Squash. The Great Kabuki vs. Tim Horner (1/5/83) Horner tries to fight but to no success. Matt Borne & Ted DiBiase vs. Buddy Landell & Bruno Sammartino Jr. (1/5/83) Bruno Jr. got the chance to look good but the champs looked even better. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Gino Hernandez (1/5/83) This was good stuff as Gino acted like a dick and slapped II which really pissed him off so he fired back with one of his own. Gino even did the Flair bump over the top rope on an irish whip. Gino missed with his diving elbow drop and II caught him with the Million-Dollar Kneelift for the win. Short match but fun. The Great Kabuki & Kamala vs. Tim Horner & Buddy Landell (1/5/83) Squash time. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Bruno Sammartino Jr. (1/5/83) Sammartino gave a good account of himself and didn’t even do a clean job as he lost by countout when Duggan speared him and fell to the floor. Chavo Guerrero vs. Gino Hernandez (1/5/83) There is some bad blood here and it’s a special challenge match. This was a flat out fight and a good one as both men just go in and start throwing shots at each other. This match even gets 2 segments no less so we miss some of the action as it comes back from back where Gino was on the floor to Gino being stretched by Chavo. Some really good stuff towards the end of the match and there was a ref bump so Gino gets a chair but Chavo cuts him off at the pass and nails Gino with the chair as the referee comes back in the ring to count the 3. This was a really solid match with the only problem being that we missed action because of a commercial break. This is a maybe nomination for me and I want to see what Phil & Tom think.
October 29, 200717 yr comment_5423226 I really enjoyed Gino v. II and Murdoch v. Arn was a fun squash including a nasty dropkick by Murdoch Chavo Guerrero vs. Gino Hernandez (1/5/83) I didn't have a big problem with the commercial break, I liked this, but I thought it needed to be worked more as a brawl for the commentary and finish. Lots of very cool stuff by both guys and Gino took some giant bumps. Got to love Chavo breaking out a tapitia and muta deathlock. I think this is a nomination, but I could see it not making a second cut
