“Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater vs. Nick Patrick (10/13/85)

Slater really looks good here against ol Nick. Nick wasn’t a bad wrestler and he was improving but the knee injury that he would suffer down the road killed his in-ring career.

No DQ, Taped Fists, Must Win By Pinfall or KO: Iceman Parsons vs. Mark Lewin (10/13/85)

This one comes direct from World Class and Gary Hart comes to the ring with a water bucket and towel like a boxing match. Hart immediately gets Lewin’s tape wet making it harder and tells the referee that it’s no DQ so who cares. Iceman pops some nice jabs and throws a mean left roundhouse. Lewin doesn’t show much boxing skill and just brawls but Iceman looks like he has been taking notes on how to throw punches. Iceman finally gets the water bucket and dips both his fists in there and starts really working on Lewin after throwing water in Hart’s face then knocking him down on the mat and throwing the whole bucket of water on him. Tommy Gilbert calls for the bell after this, which makes no sense since it was no DQ, no one was knocked out or pinned.

Loser Leaves Town: The Midnight Rider (Butch Reed) vs. Skandor Akbar (10/13/85)

This is a brawl at the bell as Akbar was convinced that Rider was Watts but Bill & Micah came to ringside which surprised Akbar and then the Rider came out looking a lot like Butch Reed. Rider hit the flying shoulderblock the match ended as soon as it began.

Mid-South Tag Titles: Wendell Cooley & Al Perez © vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (10/13/85)

DiBiase was relentless in this match in his attack on the champs as he is still pissed about losing the titles in a match that he wasn’t even in. Perez was great in his selling of said beating and dropkicked Teddy really hard in the head that caused an old cut to open up. Doc was awesome in this as the cheating heel crying about not pulling hair when he obviously did it. Teddy & Doc really worked on Cooley’s back and Cooley’s bump after being sent back first into the turnbuckle was great because of the hangtime. Doc uses the bearhug to sap the life out of Cooley and he really wrenches it in. DiBiase is awesome here as blood is flowing down his face making him even more pissed off and just starts paintbrushing Cooley calling him a punk. Perez gets the hot tag and the brawl is on but not for long as DiBiase trips him in the ropes and they start working on his leg. DiBiase jumps Perez on the floor and really puts his head hard into the railing. Doc misses a diving body press off the second rope giving Perez a chance to tag in Cooley and hot tag #2 is on setting off another wild brawl. Cooley’s punches were awesome here and as he tries for a monkey flip on Doc, DiBiase nails him with the loaded glove. Doc then picks Cooley and tries for the Oklahoma Stampede but Perez jumps in the air and pushes them down with Cooley getting the pinfall in a great finish. The champs get their ass beat after the match for their trouble though until Bob Sweetan saves the day by taking out both Doc & DiBiase to a rawkus ovation from the Tulsa crowd. This is a definite DVD pick for me and just an awesome match.

“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Bobby Fulton (10/9/85)

Gilbert is fuckin awesome before the match pimping his portrait that he is giving away but of course Fulton comes out to interrupt him and the match is on. Gilbert picking Fulton up by the hair and dropping him on the mat was great and Gilbert once recovering from the Fulton onslaught early in the match really took it to Fulton. Gilbert just kept pulling on Fulton’s hair which was great because there was so much there to grab. Fulton threw some great punches in his comeback as Gilbert tried his best to get on the floor but Gilbert chucked him out of the ring. Fulton hits a sunset flip from the apron but Gilbert holds the ropes and the referee kicks his hands but Gilbert still ends up reversing it for the win. This was great stuff and I don’t know if it’s long enough to be a nom candidate but it should be an extra no doubt.

Tommy Rogers vs. Jerry Grey (10/9/85)

Grey was a very good jobber so this should be an interesting match. This was a good back and forth match but nothing special although Grey threw some great punches.

Bounty Match: Dick Slater vs. Butch Reed (11/11/85)

This is fucking bullshit as it’s JIP and looked like it was in the middle of the match.

Ricky Starr vs. Tommy Wright (11/6/85)

Not a bad match.

Buzz Sawyer vs. “Bruiser” Bob Sweetan (11/6/85)

Sweetan’s punches were just so great, which really helps him because he wasn’t the best worker in the world. Buzz used all of his tricks here in biting and scratching. Sawyer caught Sweetan in an awesome powerslam for the win. Not bad.

Ricky Gibson vs. Tommy Wright (11/24/85)

Gibson was a really good worker and it was a shame that he didn’t get a bigger push in the business. Gibson wins with the awesome Gibson Leglock.

Lord Humongous vs. Al Perez (11/24/85)

Poor Perez, Wendell Cooley has already left for Memphis so he is being jobbed out and still wearing the spandex pants from the RnR angle. Perez does give a good showing for himself which surprised me and it also went longer than I expected.

No DQ, Taped Fists, Must Win By Pinfall or KO: Iceman Parsons vs. Mark Lewin (10/13/85)

Man I loved this it had a really shitty finish, but I dig me a match made up of punch exchanges, and the soaking of the hands ruled, still shitty finish

Mid-South Tag Titles: Wendell Cooley & Al Perez © vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (10/13/85)

I am less sure about this then Kris, but I got no problem with this being on a disc. Perezes lucha flip avoidance of a backdrop was awesome, and DiBiase is really beating the shit out of Cooley. This did have some awkward moments, as Cooley and Perez aren't very good, and there is alot of great tag wrestling in this promotion, but I could see this making it.

What the fuck happened to buzz Sawyer's dealer that week?

I have never seen Buzz this off the gas.

He looked lika more pot bellied Ole.

Sweetan looked to be the thinner of the two.

finishing powerslam was great but not going on a set.
