Brickhouse Brown vs. Mad Dog Boyd

When did Mad Dog Boyd get a singles run? Was he heel? Why does this match exist?

Steve Casey vs. Dutch Mantell

I had some hopes for this, but it never really got rocking

Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair

Fuck was this amazing. Honestly the best Kerry match I have ever seen, and this is as good as the best Flair v. Roid guys matches, as good as the best Lugar match, good as the best Sting. Lot’s of cool shit here I have never seen. Flair countering the throw off the top, Flair nuking his knee on a missed knee drop, the great stomach claw sell, the Flair dive off of the top rope into the claw. Seriously this is a top 10 match, and should be a classic everyone talks about.

Mark Ragin vs. Tom Pritchard

This was pretty fun, Ragin has nice ups on all of his highspots and kip ups. Might have made a list with a finish, but it didn’t have one.

I made this point during the Smarkschoice poll but I'll say it again. Kerry was NOT, I repeat not a bad wrestler. At some point, when you have tons of great matches, you have to give the guy some credit. It will become more apparent during the World Class run but he was pulling shit out of guys like OMG and Michael Hayes that were the best singles matches I have ever seen with those guys. When he was doped out of his mind, he was an embarassment. After he put on the prosthetic, he should not have even been in the ring. However, Kerry in the early 80s was fucking great.

I liked the opening of the last Kerry v Flair match more as neater mat stuff and this took a couple minutes to kick in. But once it kicked in, shit! Yeah the Flair countering of being military pressed off top rope was great.

Do we have this with a finish somewhere? Because with a finish this really was your random undercard match that was good enough to make a set. I like having some high end undercard stuff on these things.

Brickhouse Brown vs. Mad Dog Boyd (4/29/85)

I guess Boyd was working this show since it was in Little Rock and was playing local jobber.

“Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Steve Casey (4/29/85)

Okay match although a little dull at times.

NWA World Heavyweight Title: “Nature Boy” Ric Flair © vs. “The Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich (4/28/85)

This is from Tulsa and almost a carbon copy of their match from Jackson, Mississsippi a week later. Definite nomination.

Tom Prichard vs. Mark Ragin (4/28/85)

This is from OKC and a good little match that went to a draw.
