Posted August 13, 200718 yr comment_5420539 I enjoyed this match. It wasn't as great as a lot of their other ones, but it was worked differently than their typical great match. To start off before the bell sounds The Fantastic's throw their jackets at the Midnight Express and sneak attack them. Obviously they are pissed from the chair shots from T.V. This sets the tone for the match. The guys pair off and do some spirited brawling around ringside and in the ring. The crowd is hot for this, and really stay up for the whole match.Rogers drop a knee that looks like it obliterates Dennis's neck. Another neat spot was when Dennis held onto Tommy when he had Dennis in a small package so Eaton could come stomp Rogers on the back of his head. Fulton's FIP work was solid but nothing really special. Jimmy gets the ether rag out and the crowd goes nuts. The police had their frickin billy clubs drawn in fear of fans going to the ring. The modified Hart Attack from the top rope was great as well. I decided to throw this on the nomination block for 2 reasons. First, this is a good match. Secondly, they work it differently than they normally do with each other.
September 25, 200718 yr comment_5422206 No DQ for the Mid-South Tag Titles: The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) © vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (9/28/84) This is from Houston and the Fants come out with all guns blazing as they just pound on the MX to start the match as this is payback for being clobbered with steel chairs on TV. MX are so awesome at selling especially Condrey who bounces around like a pinball. There are some awesome punches being thrown here by the Fants and they are pulling out all spots using tape to choke Eaton. MX try and trap Fulton in their corner but he won’t have that and fights his way out but falls to a knee in the back by Condrey. Fulton gets thrown over the top rope so Rogers tries to help and we are back to a 4-way brawl, which was wild but we end up back with Fulton being the FIP. Fulton takes a great beating as the MX are among the best at keeping the faces from making the hot tag during their control section and the Houston fans are losing their shit trying to rally Fulton to make the tag. Fulton has the chance to make the hot tag but decides to try and run the ropes to hit Condrey but gets met with a big time clothesline. Rogers has seen enough so he comes in and starts cleaning house on Condrey by tying him up in the ropes and just pounds him. Fants are now taking it to the MX but as Rogers tries for an O’Connor Roll the momentum takes him, Condrey, & Carl Fergie to the floor. Fulton gets a sunset flip on Eaton while Cornette puts out Rogers on the floor with an ether rag. This leaves Fulton alone in the ring where he eats a Double Impact for the 3 count. This was a phenomenal match and a slam dunk nomination.
