Posted August 16, 200718 yr comment_5420737 The TV is all stuff I have watched before, and nominated stuff from. Houston exclusive matches Dr. Death/Ted DiBiase v. Guerrerros- Bandeleros on a pole match This is JIP about half way though, and I didn't think we got enough to nominate it anyway. These teams don't seem to match up that good, there was some fun stuff, but it wasn't great. Zambuie Express/Kamala v. Bill Watts/Jim Duggan We got all of this, but it was real short, couple of minutes of brawling and the heels take off. Nothing special Chavo Guerrerro v. Alberto Madrill Madrill is not much, he does some bleeding, but his offense is all eye rakes. I like brawling Chavo but this wasn't particularly good. Ted DiBiase/Steve Williams v. Barbarian/Jake Roberts This was JIP at about 6 minutes, but we get most of it and it is worth a disc spot. They do a fun full nelson challenge, Jake FIP and a super hot clusterfinish with a big DDT. Super fun Bill Watts/Jim Duggan v. Zambui Express/Steve Williams We get this from the bell (although there appeared to be some pre-match brawling) This is your basic Watts WALKING TALL match, which is always fun. It isn't high end WALKING TALL though, so depending on how much WALKING TALL we have on this set, I could see it being left out. Zambui isn't very good. I am nomming it though.
August 16, 200718 yr comment_5420753 I have yet to watch this tape in full. So will only comment on what seen thus far. There are a couple Hacksaw v Kimala short brawls and post match brawls all of which rule as those two just match up great. They are either all too short or incomplete to put on set but we really need a Kimala v Hacksaw match or two on set. We just need to find the right ones. Dr. Death/Ted DiBiase v. Guerrerros- Bandeleros on a pole match This is JIP about half way though, and I didn't think we got enough to nominate it anyway. These teams don't seem to match up that good, there was some fun stuff, but it wasn't great. I liked this alot think the two teams matched up here better than Phil did, but yeah way too short.
November 22, 200718 yr comment_5424371 Bandoleros on a Pole: Chavo & Hector Guerrero vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (7/12/85) This was JIP and a fun match but this wasn’t as good as it sounded on paper and not enough for nomination. There is some great crowd head for this though and there is a full moon shot of DiBiase. Mr. Kareem Muhammad vs. Frank Lang (7/12/85) Squash. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Kamala (7/12/85) This is JIP and is your standard Duggan/Kamala match from this time with the countout finish after the botched powder toss. This was a lot of fun. Hacksaw Duggan & “Cowboy” Bill Watts vs. Kamala & Mr. Kareem Muhammad (7/26/85) This is good brawl but short. Chavo Guerrero vs. Al Madril (8/4/85) Madril tries too hard to be a heel here and you would think considering what happened with Madril & Chavo there would be more crowd heat but it wasn’t as big as I thought it would be. Madril juices after a post shot and hits a nice one with the blood coming down his chest. DiBiase shows up and gives Madril some knux which he uses on Chavo so we have double juice and the ref calls a DQ for DiBiase being out there. This was okay but that’s it. The Barbarian & Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (8/4/85) Doc going through the Full-Nelson Challenge with Barbarian then Barbarian wanting Doc to try it on him was great. The crowd was nuts for Jake & Barbarian here and looking back in retrospect them not winning the tag belts was a travesty because they could’ve been fun champs. Jake had the crowd eating out of his hand chanting DDT but Doc would escape to the floor. The champs would get the advantage on Jake not too long after and DiBiase was great here talking shit while delivering the punishment. Doc missed a diving body press from the middle rope but would tag in DiBiase who would engage in a slugfest with Jake but would lock in a sleeper. Barbarian would get the hot tag and the 4-way brawl was on with Jake being knocked into the ref and DiBiase nailing Barbarian with the black glove while he had Doc in the full-nelson. Jake would pop back in and nuked DiBiase with the DDT as Barbarian covered for the victory. We get a good 8-10 minutes of this but yes we have this same style of match already on nominated in full so I hate to say this but not a nom. Mid-South TV Title: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell (7/31/85) Dutch attacks Reed before the match with Shoebaby and lashes him good but Butch shrugs it all off then returns the favor to Dutch and Dundee when he shows up. Reed walks tall and this was a great segment Lord Humongous vs. “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch (7/31/85) Humongous debuts as Humperdink demands a match with Murdoch who thinks he is facing Nightmare but is facing the debuting Humongous. They get the mask over in that you can’t do anything to his head and then headbutts Murdoch which brings out the juice. Humongous just brutalizes Murdoch. The Barbarian & Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Kent Glover & The Mongol (7/31/85) Destruction. Ted DiBiase vs. Wendell Cooley (7/31/85) DiBiase looks great here. Al Perez vs. Jerry Grey (7/31/85) This is a fine little match. The Nightmare vs. Jimmy Backlund (7/31/85) Squash. Texas Tornado Match: Hacksaw Duggan & “Cowboy” Bill Watts vs. Mr. Kareem Muhammad & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (8/4/85) Doc is subbing for the “missing” Kamala. Duggan & Watts just destroy the heels at the early part of this match kicking their ass all over the place. Doc would trip up Watts and this starts the heel control section as they start pounding on Duggan & Watts. Duggan throws some great punches on Doc trying to come back but Kareem would cut him off. DiBiase would show up but Duggan throws Doc into him then hits a big spear as Watts KO’s Muhammad with Duggan covering for the pinfall. This was great fun with the faces WALKING TALL but not enough for a nomination. Bobby Fulton vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee (7/31/85) Fulton throws some great armdrags and does some nice armwork. Dundee starts his charge by throwing some awesome punches but Fulton fights back with his own. The finishing sequence was awkward with the ref bump but still a fun TV match not enough for a nomination though. I love this whole angle though. Lord Humongous vs. Mark Ragin (7/31/85) Squash. The Nightmare vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (7/31/85) The protégé takes care of the mentor easily. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Carl Styles (7/31/85) Squash.
