Posted August 20, 200718 yr comment_5420877 Man is this a great episode of TV Produced:9-6-85 • Al Perez & Wendell Cooley vs. One Man Gang & Kareem Mohammed This is kind of borderline pick, basic big monster v. fast tag team, kind of like Rockers v. Twin Towers. Gang looked great, and it had an awesome ending with Cooley pulling on Perez and dragging Kareem in the way of the 747 • Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. The Nightmare Also a really fun match, with Roberts teasing of the DDT and Nightmare loading his mask to bust him open. Roberts hits the DDT, and then unmasks the Nightmare, Humongous comes in, and Barbarian runs in for the save, they do the monster stare down, before they both jump and beat on Jake. Totally awesome stuff, and the post match should be an extra • Mike Thorn vs. Humongous Humongous looks cool but isn't much of a squash wrestler. • Jimmy Backlund & Mark Ragin vs. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell & “Superstar” Bill Dundee This is a great squash though. Mantell murders Backlund with a Williams v. Kobashi level back suplex. • “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. El Corsario This is an angle where Corsario fakes a karate demonstration and jump kicks Gilbert in the throat. Gilbert spits up blood • The Fantastics vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams & “Bruiser” Bob Sweetan Fun, but not disc worthy, I liked the Sweetan v. Williams team alot, and Dundee is a blast as a second. Still there are so many amazing tag matches in Mid-South this isn't going to cut it.

Saying that though this was a good match with a great finish. Gang & Kareem actually work well together as well then they brawl after the match. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. The Nightmare (8/28/85) Jake is the hero of the fans at this point and he is coming into his own as a babyface. Jake teases the DDT the early part of the match but Nightmare used his strength advantage to work out of it. Nightmare uses a bearhug to weaken Jake and continues to work on Jake until he gets popped with a high kneelift. Nightmare loads his mask as he gets up and headbutts Jake three times with Jake blading in clear sight as he goes to the mat. Gilbert comes to ringside complaining about the loaded mask but Nightmare takes the object out and gives it to Humperdink. Jake juices but hits the DDT flush on Nightmare and then unmasks the Nightmare revealing him as Randy Culley while Gilbert holds Humongous back. Humongous would break free though and would go after Jake but Barbarian comes in to even the odds but he turns on Jake and the monsters beat the fuck out of Jake. Joel Watts is full on David Crockett here on commentary as Jake gets destroyed. Great great stuff and the turn should definitely be an extra. Lord Humongous vs. Mike Thorn (8/28/85) Squash. “Superstar” Bill Dundee & “Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Jimmy Backlund & Mark Ragin (8/28/85) Awesome squash with Dutch burying Backlund with a backdrop driver. El Corsario vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (8/28/85) Corsario wants to break boards before the match with his Superkick but attacks Gilbert then kicks him in the throat. Corsario then puts a nerve hold on Gilbert as he spits up blood. Great angle to get Corsario over. “Bruiser” Bob Sweetan & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (8/28/85) Fants look great early on fighting off the ex-champs so Dundee comes out to be their second. Fulton works FIP here again which he has done a lot at this time and takes a beating before making the hot tag out of headscissors attempt on Doc. It turns into a 4-way brawl with Sweetan being thrown into Tommy Gilbert so Dundee gets involved but Rogers would take care of him. Rogers would get Doc in an O’Connor Roll then saw Dundee so he knocked him out of the ring but this would allow Doc to load up the brace and he nuked Rogers. This was great fun.
