April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945228 The mentality that WWE seemingly still has as it pertains to the women is an issue. They might use the women more but they still treat them like they're minis, or the cruiserweight division. Like they're afraid to have "too many" on a card or something. What's wrong with having another segment or match with the women if those women are over & doing good stuff? For that matter, what's wrong with cutting a shitty segment with the men for an additional segment with the women? You have Sasha, Bianca, Asuka, Bayley, Rhea, Charlotte... It's OK if that's not all confined into just one RAW segment & one Smackdown segment. Especially if they're getting back both Becky & Ronda too. Just point the fucking camera at people that shine, goddamn.
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945229 Holy fucking shit... This fucking company! Did they really end Franky Monet (Taya Valkyrie)'s vignette with "See You Next Tuesday"? Don't they realize what that's a euphemism for?
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945230 Speaking of WWE's booking of their women, given the Wednesday Night Wars end tonight, I think it's fair to say that NXT lost the war when they failed to follow up on Rhea's title win. They should have made the entire show revolve around her after that. 1998 Steve Austin level

But focusing the show on the perpetually ice cold Charlotte surely wasn't the solution either. I get the idea behind it - infuse NXT some much-needed star-power and something something "fresh" - but Charlotte was never going to excite anyone. She's a tremendous wrestler, but she's not someone people have ever clamored to see.

This will mean something to very few people, like @ButchReedMark and @ohtani's jacket and @Dav'oh, but of all things, this reminded me of when Andrew Strauss did not realise he was still on air while doing commentary for a special Lord's cricket match and called Kevin Pietersen a cunt on national TV

April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945238 Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the commercials. Sucks for USA Network-only viewers, but I guess they're probably not watching anyway since there's no Night 2 for them.

Do me a favor: Go to any wrestling site - heck, go to your favorite one - and look at the comments section for a few articles. I rest my case! This whole 'Everyone is an dumb, redneck, piece of shit, except us." deal is fucking awful. And it really seems like it's some weird self hate. "Boy, can you believe how DUMB (fill in the blank) is? Aren't WE smart?" is some weak sauce, man. DVDVR is a wonderful place for intelligent discussion, and I'm sure there are others in all the corners of all fandom online. Tearing down invisible people while saying, "Hey but not us, amirite?" is lame.
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945252 It's not a live blog, since I'm on the west coast and everyone saw TakeOver before me, but I'm still writing it up as I watch it: https://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2021/04/nxt-takeover-stand-and-deliver-night.html Dunne/Kushida and the gauntlet match were terrible, but I thought WALTER/Ciampa was awesome. Ciampa is having a great year.

Tearing down invisible people while saying, "Hey but not us, amirite?" is lame. Except, I wasn't referring to other wrestling message boards, which you'd know if you actually read my post instead of skimming it. That would be a pretty silly argument from me, since I'm not on most of them, wouldn't it? (I do casually browse DVDVR and Wrestling Classics though, and I like both from what I've seen. The old Kayfabe Memories board was great too.) BTW, no, my post wasn't some weird attempt to uplift me, us, and PWO (even though, yeah, PWO is great) while tearing others down. Like it or not, intelligent wrestling discourse is the minority. That's a simple statement of fact. Like I said, go to any popular wrestling website, click a few articles, and read the comments section. Again, I rest my case. (That's not even mentioning social media like Twitter, if you really want to dig down in the deepest dumps.) I mean, what I'm saying is probably true of any fandom, but this is Pro Wrestling Only, so I'm not exactly going to start posting about Mandalorian fans or whatever, am I?
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945257 So anyway, NXT was pretty good. WALTER and Ciampa beat the piss out of each other, MSK got their big win, and Raquel got the rocket. I assume Io is going to be the "debut the day after Mania" pop this year.
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945282 The last three matches delivered in a way that NXT hasn’t for me personally in a long while. Io is absolutely fantastic and really should get the rocket strapped to her on the main roster. Really dug how WALTER/Ciampa was worked exactly how it should have been and it’s been long enough that I forgot at how good WALTER is at taking offence, selling incrementally while still retaining that presence and believability. I can take or leave Ciampa but thought he was great too. Got to think Vince sees big money in WALTER, if he even watches NXT anyway

Would have a very different meaning outside of wrestling. For all of the "WWE-speak" everyone makes fun of, some of the fan-speak is pretty hilarious too if you ever stop to think about it. 3 hours ago, Stiva said: Got to think Vince sees big money in WALTER, if he even watches NXT anyway I hope WALTER gets the rocket, but I could just as easily see Vince thinking "His midsection is too pudgy, damn it!" and/or "He's an extraordinary athlete, but he doesn't have the 'it-factor'. Maybe it's because he's Austrian?"
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945300 Doesn't WALTER want to stay in Europe anyways, which is why he's in NXT Uk and not the main NXT brand ?

Maybe it's because he's Austrian?" For one there is the "Walter does not want to move to the US" thing. Plus he has an accent, see how that "helped" Cesaro. Also I like me a good 3.5 count. Io forgot to kick out in the main event (I rewound three times to make sure that the first count was not just the ref hitting the mat) but the ref reacted quickly enough and just continued counting.

Well, Imperium has an oddly Nazi vibe as it is, so he's already halfway there.

April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945307 Apparently Jean Brassard has announced that he and Ray Rougeau are out as the French Commentary team due to "restructuring" because of Peacock.
April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945308 I can just imagine the unflattering outfits Vince would have WALTER wear on the main roster.

April 8, 20214 yr comment_5945310 I utterly dread to think what senile Vince would do with Walter. Or Io Shirai. Or Cameron Grimes. Or whoeverthefuck. Honestly, Raquel Gonzalez is the only person I have any optimism for.
