Rick Steiner vs. Brett Sawyer (8/8/86)

Boesch on commentary can never get Gilbert’s nickname right and always calls him “Hot Shot.” Sawyer really makes Steiner look good here especially selling for his power moves. Steiner wins with a great belly-to-belly.

Koko Ware vs. One Man Gang (8/8/86)

Koko uses his speed to keep OMG on his toes basically using the same psychology he uses against Kamala. Ross is burying Kamala on commentary for going to where he can find easier competition (WWF) because Duggan got rid of him. OMG finally catches Koko and starts delivering a beating but Koko makes a comeback using his awesome punches and dropkicks but Akbar trips him up for the DQ finish.

Gary Young vs. Gustavo Mendoza (8/3/86)

Not bad but they have had better.

Another skit with Jim Ross and Hot Stuff/Hyatt International stirring more shit between Gilbert & Tatum.

Rick Steiner & Sting vs. The Glassman & Brett Sawyer (8/3/86)

Glassman is a 3rd rate Brickhouse Brown. Steiner & Sawyer had a great exchange to start the match running the ring and doing leapfrogs with Steiner getting some high ups. Sawyer looked good when he was in there but Glassman came in and got destroyed by the heels.

One Man Gang vs. Jeff Raitz (8/3/86)

OMG squashes Raitz but after the match is where it goes down as OMG challenges Gordy for a shot at his UWF Heavyweight Title and Gordy comes down to the ring with Duggan following. Duggan & Gordy brawl it out on the floor before OMG joins in then Hayes joins in along with Roberts making it a wild brawl. IT’S BREAKIN LOOSE IN TULSA as the locker room empties to break it up. They come back after the break where Akbar & OMG say they won’t let a UWF Title match happen tonight between Gordy & Duggan so that brings out Ken Mantell to tell them that ain’t happening and security will escort them out of the building.

UWF Tag Titles: “Hot Stuff’ Eddie Gilbert & Sting © vs. The Fantastics (8/8/86)

This is JIP from Houston. Gilbert takes a beating here and even juices for the Fants. Ross buries Bladerunner Rock on commentary for leaving for easier competition (World Class) and admires Sting for staying to improve. There was some really good action here and the Fants have Sting finished but Gilbert grabbed Carl Fergie’s hand before making the 3 count. The match continues as a 4-way brawl but Gilbert chunks Rogers over the top rope as he had Sting in an O’Connor Roll for the DQ finish. The brawl after the match was awesome.

UWF Heavyweight Title: Terry Gordy © vs. Hacksaw Duggan (8/3/86)

DiBiase seconds Duggan to the ring and Hayes with Gordy so this should be interesting. Ken Mantell comes out and tells DiBiase & Hayes to leave the ring and when they do the war is on. This was a power match as you would expect with Duggan getting the early advantage by hitting a shoulder tackle on Gordy knocking him out of the ring. Duggan looks great early hitting a cross body block on Gordy for a nearfall and throws his tremendous punches. Duggan goes for the spear but misses hitting the top turnbuckle with Gordy signaling for the Oriental Spike and gets a sleeper hold to prepare for the spike. Duggan rakes the eyes though to get out and hits a big slam but misses a diving kneedrop. Gordy then starts working on Duggan’s leg and tries for a figure-four a couple of times but Duggan gets out of it and hits a sunset flip and inside cradle for nearfalls. Duggan then starts working on Gordy’s leg ramming it into the ringpost. Duggan then starts layin in the punches but Gordy kicks him and hits the piledriver for a 2 count. Gordy signals for the Spike but Duggan keeps on fighting back until he meets a boot to the face and Gordy then puts the Spike on Duggan. Tulsa fans are going apeshit as Duggan is near dead but the crowd brings him to life eventually before colliding with Gordy headfirst after running the ropes. Gordy climbs up top but Duggan slams him off the top rope leading to the Duggan comeback or so it seems before Gordy locks the sleeper back in. Duggan breaks out and hits a clothesline before stomping around and starts layin in the punches in the corner as the TV credits roll. Gordy gets thrown in the ropes upside down and Duggan hits the spear right as the cameras stop. Thankfully the next TV episode picked up where we left off as Duggan has Gordy tied up in the ropes before Buddy Roberts entered the ring for the DQ. It’s 2-on-1 before DiBiase comes out in a mask to make the save. This was phenomenal and a slam dunk nomination.

Rick Steiner vs. Brett Sawyer (8/22/86)

This series continues and this may be their best match I’ve seen as it is a very good back-and-forth match with both men looking really solid especially Steiner. Steiner was improving greatly due to working against guys like Sawyer. “Hot Stuff” distracted Sawyer giving Steiner the opening to kick Sawyer’s ass but Sawyer fought back but “Hot Stuff’ distracted Sawyer once again before Steiner hit his belly-to-belly to win. Good little match.

One Man Gang vs. Gary Young (8/22/86)

This is JIP from Houston. Young gives a good fight but OMG takes care of him.

The Fabulous Freebirds cut a promo about DiBiase coming out under the mask not being fair and brings out Ken Mantell. They want DiBiase suspended but Mantell doesn’t know who the masked man was and threatens the Birds with their contract saying he could terminate it.

Joe Savoldi vs. Gustavo Mendoza (8/17/86)

Both men looked good here and that’s the thing about Watts, his jobbers were not your average jobbers as they can go. Savoldi used a botched Misteriorana with Mendoza landing head first on the mat.

Savannah Jack vs. Ken Massey (8/17/86)

SAVANNAH FUCKING JACK!!!!!!!, Jack was a cool ass heel but wasn’t the best of workers.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts) vs. Brett Sawyer & Gary Young (8/17/86)

Birds look great here and Hayes even gets a shoutout to Channel 36 in the ATL which I love. Gordy hits the Bamm Bamm Slam on Young then try on Sawyer for a DQ because the referee told them not to do it. DiBiase & Doc hit the ring and IT’S BREAKING LOOSE IN TULSA as they clean house on the Birds. They try for a spike piledriver on the floor before Hayes joins in and they try for a spike piledriver on him but Roberts breaks it up. Insane brawl that should be an extra this was awesome.

More goodness with Tatum/Gilbert/Missy as Gilbert & Missy arrive in a limo together as Tatum waits with Jim Ross and of course that leads to a little fireworks.

UWF Tag Titles: “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting © vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (8/17/86)

Gilbert & Fulton have history and they start off against each other in a rapid punching exchange before Gilbert starts stooging around but Rogers cleans his clock from the apron. Sting gets in the ring and eats a tremendous dropkick from Rogers before the match goes to break. The match comes back and Sting & Gilbert have started their control section and John Tatum walks out to the ring. Gilbert & Sting do a great job of keeping Tommy Gilbert from seeing Fulton tagging Rogers but it ends up being a wild 4-way brawl. Gilbert & Fulton collide in mid-air as they try a cross body block as Rogers & Sting brawl on the floor. Hot Stuff tries to use the Gucci purse but hits his dad and he fights with Missy as Tatum runs in the ring and throws powder in Fulton’s eyes. Gilbert then hits a german suplex for the win. Tommy Gilbert comes back after the break and says that he is going to hold the belts up due to the screwiness of the finish. Very solid 8 minute match and a probable nomination for me.

2 Ring Battle Royal won by Chavo Guerrero (8/8/86)

This is JIP.

Joe Savoldi vs. Gustavo Mendoza (8/22/86)

This is JIP from Houston and it was quite good.

Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (8/22/86)

Steiner worked double duty on this show. Chavo chases Hot Stuff around the ring early in the match to keep him on his toes. Pretty good back-and-forth match with some good punches by both men. Hot Stuff pulls the rope down as Chavo runs the ropes for the DQ finish and they pound on him until he makes his comeback and takes out both men.

Art Crews vs. Brett Sawyer (8/17/86)

Pretty good little match with Crews getting the win in his first match back with a swinging neckbreaker.

Rick Steiner & Jack Victory vs. Jeff Gaylord & Ken Massey (8/17/86)

Steiner & Victory work pretty good as a team here.

Chavo Guerrero vs. The Libyan (8/17/86)

Chavo looks great.

Hacksaw Duggan vs. Savannah Jack (8/17/86)

Jack comes to the ring wearing an awesome black leather cowboy hat and Duggan comes to the ring attacking Akbar/Jack/OMG. Jack starts whipping Duggan with a leather strap until the Missing Link jumps in the ring and attacks OMG. IT’S BREAKING LOOSE IN TULSA as Duggan & Link clean house.

The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers)/Terry Taylor vs. Eddie Gilbert/Sting/Jack Victory (8/22/86)

This is JIP from Houston. This was a really solid all-action match too bad it was JIP.

UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. “Hollywood” John Tatum (8/17/86)

Tatum is great here selling, stooging, and his facials were always fantastic. Tatum also throws some great punches here but he is working this match with a hard-on that really disturbs me. I guess he was getting excited while he was punching Taylor in the mouth. Gilbert comes down to the ring as Tatum hits a nice clothesline off the middle rope. Tatum really dominates this match but Taylor gets nearfalls every now and then. Taylor makes a comeback and hits a swinging neckbreaker with a kneedrop to the head before throwing some great punches with Tatum selling like death. Taylor eventually hits the five-arm before Missy comes in the ring before Tatum hits Taylor with a knee that knocks him into Missy. Gilbert gets powder ready to throw but he hits Tatum by accident. Taylor makes the cover for the 3 count as Jim Ross and the Tulsa fans go nuts. I’m throwing this one on the block it may be a low-end nomination but damn this was fun.

Ted DiBiase, Bill Watts, & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy, Michael Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) (8/17/86)

IT’S BREAKING DOWN IN TULSA as the faces jump the Birds from behind and it’s complete war and Hayes bladed 30 seconds into the brawl after Watts punched him. Jim Ross is going apeshit on commentary as TV time runs out. This lasted a minute.

Joe Savoldi vs. The Libyan (9/5/86)

Savoldi looks pretty good here.

Then the DVD started fucking up on me so I missed the rest. Are the Brandon DVD’s going to be redistributed as 2 hour discs?

OMG finally catches Koko and starts delivering a beating but Koko makes a comeback using his awesome punches and dropkicks but Akbar trips him up for the DQ finish.

This was going fine until the abrubt finish, would have liked to see a longer match between the two

This was really great, although the chopped up finish hurts it a bit, I think Terry Gordy took a shoulder tackle better then anyone in wrestling history. I also love the Oriental spike so much

I guess Kris didn't put this in the matches board, but I will go ahead and do it. I loved the start with Fulton and Eddie going fist and fire, and Sting is alot of fun in UWF as a green athletic guy with crazy spots. I loved the big clustefuck finish, but Missy is going to be pissed if Eddie and Tatum keep throwing her coke stash in peoples eyes.

I actually liked this the most out of any match on this DVD, even more then Hacksaw v. Gordy. Tatum is such a blast, strutting, mugging, flopping around, that was all stuff I knew he brought to the table, but I never remembered all of this great John Tatum offense, his clothesline and punches were super. Crazy crowd and great finish, I don't think this is low end at all, awesome match.

The only Houston specific match on this tape worth considering was

Terry Taylor v. One Man Gang

This was a little slow, and never really got cooking until your cheap Akbar finish, not one of either men's better singles matches, post match was fun though.
