Posted August 22, 200718 yr comment_5420965 Nick Bockwinkle vs. Dusty Rhodes 5/20/83 Really fun match, Bockwinkle doesn't do much but bump, but he bumps well, Dusty bleeds and has amazing strike combos, at one point he does a violence party with an elbow, punch, forearm, side elbow combo. Worth putting on a disc Chavo Guerrerro vs. Mr. Olympia 6/24/83 Spectacular match, possibly a top ten contender. Starts out with some great complicated matwork and standing exchanges, really stuff comparable to the Negro Navarro v. Engendro match we watched earlier. Then the brawl breaks out which is great too, including Chavo taking a monster bump on the loaded dropkick. Slam dunk, and probably my top Chavo match on this disc Nick Bockwinkle vs. Dusty Rhodes 6/24/83 This was a bullrope match, and had enough fun bullrope spots and blood to be worth a nomination. Dusty really rakes the cowbell against Bockwinkle's head, and Dusty is so much fun to watch. Probably the least of the 83 Houston, but still worth a spot. Nick Bockwinkle vs. Junkyard Dog 9/23/83 This is for the JYD's crown, and if JYD wins he gets five minutes with Heenan. More big Bockwinikle bumping, and JYD's offense looks really good at this point. JYD gets two super nasty postings, and then Bockwinkle goes to work on the bloody head. Heenan dies a bunch at the end too. Really great. Fantastics vs. Roberts & Dr. Death Dr. Death vs. Steve Casey Terry Taylor vs. Kimala Dr. Death vs. Brickhouse Brown Dutch Mantel vs. Tim Horner All of these are from house shows which I have already commented on Midnight Express vs. Bill Dundee & Porkchop Cash 4/6/84 Not the objectively best match in Mid-South history, but maybe one of my favorites. Spectacular MX comedy spots, as they bump all around for Dundee and Cash. Cash gets amazing height on his butt but, Dundee is spectacular here, as he works really well with both Condrey and his son in law, I loved the backstroke hot tag. Huge smile on my face the entire time, and a slam dunk pick Brad Armstrong vs. Jake Roberts Butch Reed vs. Skip Young Already reviewed them “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Terry Taylor 10/1/84 Reed is really great here, and Taylor takes some crazy bumps including an awkward bump on a table. Big bumping fun stuff by Reed too, makes a DVD. Midnight Express vs. Fantastics (date?) This was the Condrey show, as he was just a total beast, super amateur stuff, fun comedy spots, awesome ab stretch, and we got Rogers in peril instead of Fulton. I may have watched this match before, but it should go on.

Worth putting on a disc This is Bockwinkle working really exclusively as bumping stooge. Dusty violence party is great and Dusty's speed on everything is pretty cool to see. And the JYD commitee (Committe for Justice Youth and Decency) decided to get him crown, which is on the line in this match I think. Paul Boesch has me confused and in hysterics. This match sets up the Houston Bockwinkle vs. Brody match which I have on a best of Houston tape and SUCKS. I have now watched a ton of Houston and shocked at what I think made the best of Houston show (I think equivalent of the WCW All Nighter type deal). Midnight Express vs. Fantastics (date?) This was the Condrey show, as he was just a total beast, super amateur stuff, fun comedy spots, awesome ab stretch, and we got Rogers in peril instead of Fulton. I may have watched this match before, but it should go on. So is the formula: Fulton face in peril=Tommy Rogers eats pin/Rogers face in peril= Fulton gets to pin opponent? Condrey is amazing here and really liked his cowering in corner "hey he has closed fists. This is a wrestling match"comedy spots. Mr Olympia=Jerry Stubbs? When did he stop working at this nutty Manami Toyota speed? Olympia's mat work mostly consists of chinlocks and not the kind of elaborate stuff you see in Engendro v Navarro but the work into and out of them really gives it the lucha mat work feel.
December 10, 200717 yr comment_5425004 I had seen everything on here except this. Mid-South Tag Titles: The Midnight Express (“Loverboy” Dennis Condrey & “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton) © vs. Porkchop Cash & “Superstar” Bill Dundee (4/6/84) Dream Machine had shattered his leg days earlier so Dundee has to step in. This was great stuff with the MX making their opponents look awesome by bumping and selling all over the place. Cash & Dundee really didn’t need the help as they showed a lot of fire and worked really well together. The Dundee FIP section was really great especially the hot tag sequence. The finish was abrupt but still this was a great match and a definite nomination.
