Posted August 22, 200718 yr comment_5420968 This was a bullrope match, and had enough fun bullrope spots and blood to be worth a nomination. Dusty really rakes the cowbell against Bockwinkle's head, and Dusty is so much fun to watch. Probably the least of the 83 Houston, but still worth a spot.
September 26, 200718 yr comment_5422226 Texas Bullrope Match: Dusty Rhodes vs. Nick Bockwinkel (6/24/83) Here is the big rematch and with Dusty’s specialty match. Bock got tied up and then tried to escape but Dusty brought him back in the hard way. Bock tried to use the rope to choke Dusty but he countered and used the bell across Bock’s head to break that up. Dusty just dominated Bock with the rope and the bell at this point rendering Bock a bloody mess basically using the rope as his tag team partner. Dusty then locked in the figure-four leglock but released it so he could beat on Bock some more with the bell. DiBiase then tried jump off the top rope on Dusty but missed and hit Bock leading to Dusty pinning him for the 3 count. Bundy then showed up and it was 3-on-1 until the faces made the save. This was a lot of fun but underwhelming to me as Dusty didn’t even blade till after the match. I’m on the fence as far as nomination goes.
September 29, 200718 yr comment_5422347 I'm going to rewatch this, but when I 1st saw it the match did nothing for me.
October 27, 200717 yr comment_5423148 I am going with Kris and shoe on this. When compared to other gimmick mathces, his does not have a prayer. When I think of bullrope matches, I think of JBL-Eddie and this match doesn't even come close.
