Koko Ware vs. The Libyan (7/20/86)

 

Man, Koko is awesome and the best part about this match is Michael Hayes talking about how he is going to beat up Janet Jackson’s brothers if they try to stop him from fucking her. Libyan gives Koko a run for his money but gets finished off with a dropkick from the second rope.

 

One Man Gang vs. Gary Young (7/20/86)

 

Young is getting a small push at this time so he gets some offense mainly from capitalizing on mistakes but gets smushed at the end.

 

Dark Journey buries Michael Hayes for his lies about her wanting him and calling him constantly so he comes in the ring and tongue kisses her. DJ then slaps Hayes and leaves the ring with him going nuts.

 

Eddie Gilbert does an interview where he reforms up Hot Stuff International with Rick Steiner & Sting and announces that he has merged with Missy Hyatt beginning that huge angle. Ross then ends up at the Hyatt household where she confirms the merger.

 

Brett Sawyer vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (7/20/86)

 

This was supposed to be Jack Victory against Sawyer but Hot Stuff & Sting enter the ring and pay him off so Gilbert can work against Sawyer. Gilbert nearly kills Sawyer with the Hot Shot sending him right to the floor. Gilbert has Sawyer finished but keeps pulling him up after every pin attempt so Sawyer locks in an inside cradle for the upset. Fun stuff.

 

The Fantastics vs. Joe Malcolm & Gustavo Mendoza (7/20/86)

Elimination Match: Hacksaw Duggan, Terry Taylor, & Bill Watts vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy, Michael Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) (7/20/86)

 

IT’S BREAKIN LOOSE AT THE TULSA FAIRGROUNDS!!!! and everyone is just so great here especially Duggan & Watts as they just punch the fuck out of the Birds. Hayes’ selling and facials were phenomenal here as he looked scared to death anytime he was near the faces corner. Gordy folds Taylor up like an accordion with a backdrop suplex. Hot Stuff enters the ring in a referee shirt trying to attempt to trick Watts that he counted Hayes out but Gordy waffles Watts with a chair. Gordy then goes for the Oriental Spike but Duggan breaks it up. Duggan & Gordy have war on the floor as Hayes throws a bloodied Watts over the top rope and was eliminated. The Birds mock Watts before he leaves but he gets back in the ring and hits Hayes in the balls as the others brawl on the floor. Great sign in the crowd BTW saying “Michael Hayes, All Cock, No Talk” as Hayes gets counted out and eliminated. Hayes sells his balls as he is escorted to the back and we end up with Duggan/Taylor vs. Gordy/Roberts. Gordy bumps and sells like a madman for Duggan here and the match becomes a normal type match now. Taylor comes in and gets heat from both Birds and was eliminated after a Roberts diving elbow drop. Duggan then starts WALKING TALL taking out both Gordy & Roberts with a clothesline but the Birds get an advantage and try to throw Duggan over the top rope but he chunked both of them over for the victory. This was tremendous stuff early on and the finish was great too so a definite DVD pick.

 

Jeff Gaylord vs. Joe Malcolm (7/20/86)

 

Jeff Gaylord with short hair makes me laugh. Ross calls Gaylord a young version of Hacksaw Duggan which is even more funny.

 

“Hollywood” John Tatum vs. Brett Sawyer (7/20/86)

 

Sawyer looked great and Tatum was what he was. Sawyer gets mesmerized by Missy’s tits and causes himself to lose.

 

UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting (7/20/86)

 

Missy & Tatum are here with Hot Stuff International and Tatum looks like he really doesn’t want to be there. Eddie started off against both Fants and it was great stuff as they gelled very well. After a ref bump with Tommy Gilbert as the referee no less, Rogers has Gilbert pinned as Carl Fergie comes out and of course he gets bumped too. Missy nailed Rogers with her purse and Gilbert pins him to win the titles and everyone celebrates. Fun while it lasted.

 

The Joel Watts version of the Boys Are Back In Town airs with footage of the Birds getting their ass kicked dispersed throughout.

 

Rick Steiner vs. Ken Massey (7/20/86)

 

The Steiner push begins with his new look and being a new member of Hot Stuff International. Steiner looks tremendous here.

 

Kamala vs. Koko Ware (7/20/86)

 

Duggan came with Koko to the ring and him doing the Bird was phenomenal. Koko uses his speed early in the match to keep Kamala on his toes moving around. Koko then started taking Kamala down with armdrags that was awesome as the Tulsa fans were going nuts. Duggan takes care of Akbar at ringside as Kamala takes control of the match though. Akbar leaves the ring and returns with the One Man Gang who starts brawling with Duggan as TV time runs out.

Brett Sawyer vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (7/20/86)

 

Man alive does Sawyer get killed on that hot shot.

 

Elimination Match: Hacksaw Duggan, Terry Taylor, & Bill Watts vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy, Michael Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) (7/20/86)

 

All of the Watts stuff here was awesome, and I liked how this broke into a regular tag match later. Gordy just murders Taylor with the clothesline, finish was fun too. I think I may have liked the non elimination version of this match better, but this makes a disc

Fuck nastyest hot shot ever.

 

did they announce that over the top rope could cause an elimination in the main? I swear I heard that as one of the stips. Anyways Terry Gordy must have bumped over the top rope to the floor a hundred times in that match. I like how it develped from all out brawl into a straight tag. Gets a yes vote.
