Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Masao Ito vs. Lanny Poffo (2/1/84) Not a good match although Poffo tried. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Larry Santana (2/1/84) II looks good and gets the win but gets jumped by the MX after the match. JYD leaves the announce position and Magnum TA comes running out to make the save. JYD & Terry Taylor get in a brawl with Krusher Darsow & Nikolai Volkoff and then Masao Ito runs out and places a nerve hold on JYD. It ends up being a locker room clearing brawl. Krusher Darsow & Nikolai Volkoff vs. John King & George Weingroff (2/1/84) Weingroff gets some offense in but other than that it’s a squash. Jim “The Anvil†Neidhart vs. Jerry Grey (2/1/84) Neidhart has quite the beard going here. Terry Taylor vs. Tom Lintz (2/1/84) Taylor looks good. The Rock n Roll Express debut video set to Beautiful Girls by Van Halen airs as they will make their first appearance live on the next show. Magnum TA & Mr. Wrestling II vs. Jerry Grey & Tom Lintz (2/15/84) The champs look solid but after the match they air a video from the locker room in New Orleans where Grizzly Smith announces that Magnum will get his shot at JYD’s North American Title and II said that he thinks it stinks because he got passed by. This is the beginning of the heel turn as II thinks it’s a conspiracy against him. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Junkyard Dog vs. Nikolai Volkoff (2/15/84) Taylor & Darsow are at ringside and JYD hits the Thump on Volkoff for the win in seconds as Taylor had distracted him. The Rock n Roll Express vs. Pat Rose & Dale Veasy (2/15/84) RnR comes out and the females go completely apeshit on sight meaning all those video packages worked. RnR wearing Michael Jackson type vests were also great. RnR look great here but also looked a little nervous and with Rose & Veasy they had some good opponents to work with. Masao Ito vs. John King (2/15/84) I never liked Ito. “Nature Boy†Buddy Landell & “Hacksaw†Butch Reed vs. “Leaping†Lanny Poffo & George Weingroff (2/15/84) Poffo & Weingroff were really good and the other team goes without saying so this should be a fun match. There were some iffy spots but this was a pretty good little match and the heels showed excellent teamwork. Krusher Darsow vs. Steve Brinson (2/15/84) Squash.

The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton) vs. Brian Adias & Tommy Heggie Schneider's Mid South MX talking point is that they are really dissapointing compared to lots of the other heel teams in big matches. I don't know how legit that statement is, but FUCK are they great ina squash. As both Eaton and Condrey look like absolute world destroying beasts in this. The height Eaton can get off a second rope elbow drop is amazing. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Masao Ito vs. Lanny Poffo I dug this a bunch. Sometimes Poffo's goof ball selling will take me completely out of a match and here he is super goofy: including doing a Marcel Marceau mimes "guy crawling through desert looking for an oasis" to sell guy who has taken a beating and still fighting for a last chance. But somehow it all cam together and this was fun. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Larry Santana this sets up your giant brawl and holy shit JYD takes the Masa Ito throat kick really great. I mean totally marked out and thought "Wow I can't wait for after the buy week when Ito and JYD finally face off in a singles match for the Tv title"...which is a preposterous thing to be excited about. Post brawl JYD mic work explaining the Waatts rules that fine commentator for going to ring and why he doesn't care and what not is great and thats followed by lots of curmudgeonly II mic work about him being passed over for title shot. The Rock n Roll Express vs. Pat Rose & Dale Veasy Nice debut. Great double drop kick. Reed and Landell v Poffo and Weingroff Also lots of fun.

Cornette would be on commentary verbally destroying the opponent while Condrey and Eaton would dismantle them physically.
