Posted May 18, 20214 yr comment_5952357 NWA Wrestling Legend's Fanfest 2009 25 Years After Starrcade August 6, 2009 "25 Years After Starrcade" reunites former NWA World champions Nature Boy Ric Flair and Harley Race in a discussion certain to be as no-holds-barred as that legendary steel cage match more than a quarter-century ago. Flair won the championship from Race at Starrcade 83 in Greensboro, an event considered the forerunner of todays megabuck pay-per-views.
May 18, 20214 yr Author comment_5952358 I enjoyed this, although the mutual admiration that they had for each other got a bit tiresome when they kept putting the other over. A few annoying smarks in the crowd, but some great tales such as when they were in Japan and the NWA sent Race as Flair’s bodyguard for fear that Jumbo Tsuruta would shoot on Flair and double cross him to get the World Title, and when Vince McMahon met Race before Starrcade ’83 and was trying to get him to join the WWF and sabotage the show. Really good to hear about the build up to Starrcade ’83, and what it was like to be NWA Champion back in the day.
