Posted August 29, 200718 yr comment_5421265 Ted DiBiase vs. Paul Orndorff (12/2/81) Really solid fast paced match here with both men looking great. The story going into the match was that Orndorff & Bob Roop had worked on a counter to the figure-four leglock and would he be able to get it. DiBiase locks it in and of course he turned it holding the reversal for well over a minute with DiBiase looking like he is about to pass out but he won’t give it up. Orndorff has tremendous leverage but TV time runs out for a draw. I really loved this match and I am putting it on the block.
September 7, 200718 yr comment_5421606 This was just great. Orndorff looked like such a stud here. Dibiase's arm work was well executed. The match was fast paced and full of excitement. The finish set up rematches around the horn. I loved the early attempted takedowns by the guys. I wish we could have gotten to see a houseshow match between the guys to see how they would have filled 12-25 minutes. Just a great T.V match that belongs on a disk.
October 24, 200717 yr comment_5423042 I didn't like this very much, kind of worked like a 50 yard line indy match, until the cool finish. I think Loss liked this alot too, so I am outvoted, but I am going to say no
October 25, 200717 yr comment_5423094 Yeah I hated this match alot more than Phil. There are lots of matches in UWF/Midsouth that have stand offs and restarts but this one was first that really felt like a Pittsburg indy match where there is a standoff to get applause followed by the two guys restarting with no change in strategy. For technical matches to time limit draw there have been lots better that haven't been nominated. Did Josh Stroud v Pritchard match go to draw? I loved the concept behind match. And I'm digging the fuck out of the whole Orton, Dibbiase, Roop three way feud. And part of me thinks that you kind of need to put this on to tell that feuds story. But the least of the matches in the feud and not sure if we should put a match on for being good conceptually. It is a cool angle but if I were to put together a "technical match to time limit draw" comp (bunches of technical Kevin Sullivan in Georgia, Jesse Barr in Portland, Gustavo Mendoza, Tito Santana, etc) I don't know if I could justify putting this on above Neidhart v Brian Blair. My guess is this should be on set, but the mildest endorsement from me.
October 29, 200717 yr comment_5423255 he Assassin & Bob Roop vs. Ted DiBiase & “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd (5/12/82) Assassin hits a shockingly good drop kick and this was also loads of fun but beneath being worthy of going on set. And really this match makes me vote "no" on DiBiase v Orndorf. I didn't like the Dibiase v Orndorf match but love the whole Roop/Ordndorf/Roop three way TV title angle. Love the working on a reversal story. The whole Orndorf comes up with reversal story was cooler than the actual match...and thought you kind of needed it on the set. Here they do the Dibiase finds a way to counter the counter and it's awesome conceptually, a great angle, and a super fun match but still think beneath being on a set. If cool angle in fun match stays off, than cool angle in less fun match should stay off too. So i'm changing vote from mild endorsement of yes to a no.
