North American Heavyweight Title: Ted DiBiase © vs. “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch (8/18/82) Murdoch comes in with his hat turned backwards and the fight is on as soon as he enters the ring. Murdoch throws some great punches here and even gets some bites in along with his elbows. Duggan comes to ringside early in the match as Murdoch is in control. DiBiase gets the advantage back and starts working on Murdoch’s lower back but Murdoch just starts firing punches with DiBiase trading back and forth in a great exchange. DiBiase still keeps the advantage and resumes his plan on working on the lower back but Murdoch once again turns the tables and starts working on DiBiase’s left leg really trying to hyperextend it. Murdoch goes for the figure-four but DiBiase sends him into the turnbuckle although Murdoch comes back and knocks DiBiase out of the ring. Murdoch then hits Duggan on the floor and gets distracted where DiBiase jumps him from behind. Murdoch soon gets an O’Connor Roll on DiBiase but DiBiase shoves him into Duggan who was on the apron. Murdoch then hits a cross body block on DiBiase knocking the ref down too (what a shock) and Duggan watches on as Murdoch takes it to DiBiase. Murdoch goes for the brainbuster but Duggan hits his spear and DiBiase falls on Murdoch for the 3 count. Good match but it falls short of being a nomination on my end mainly because they worked at half speed most of the match. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Billy Starr (8/18/82) Squash and II still looks strange. Colonel Buckley Christopher George Robley III vs. Tug Taylor (8/18/82) Squash. One Man Gang vs. Vinnie Romeo (8/18/82) Squash. Sure enough we had a fake Mr. Wrestling II as the next week the real Mr. Wrestling II showed up and beat up the fake one as he was going to referee a Mid-South Tag Titles match with JYD/Olympia vs. DiBiase/Duggan. (9/1/82) Mid-South Tag Titles – SR – Mr. Wrestling II: Junkyard Dog & Mr. Olympia © vs. Ted DiBiase & Hacksaw Duggan (9/1/82) This is JIP and the fake II gets involved again loading his boot ala The Grappler and knocking II out then counting out JYD. “Capt. Redneck” Dick Murdoch vs. Billy Starr (9/1/82) Squash. Mr. Olympia vs. Ron Cheatham (9/1/82) Squash. Junkyard Dog vs. One Man Gang (9/1/82) JYD makes this a brawl from the bell and hits the big Thump on the Gang in like a minute before bringing Akbar in the ring and slamming him. Killer Khan shows up and JYD brings him in the ring then slams him. JYD hits the Thump again on the Gang for the win. This was a burial of major proportions of the One Man Gang wow. Ted DiBiase vs. Tim Horner (9/1/82) DiBiase looks really good. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Hacksaw Duggan (9/1/82) The real II this time. This was a decent match with II knocking Duggan to the floor with the Million-Dollar Kneelift causing DiBiase to help Duggan back into the ring. Murdoch comes out and runs DiBiase into the ring where he gets speared by accident. II follows with the kneelift for the win. Fun finish. The Grappler vs. Vinnie Romeo (9/1/82) Grappler uses a modified powerbomb and a kneelift to win which brings out II but the Grappler runs off. Colonel Buckley Christopher George Robley III vs. Tony Anthony (9/1/82) A very young Tony Anthony here gets squashed but the best part of this is Bob Roop on commentary saying that a 100 million people watch Mid-South each week and that Anthony just came off a big tour of South Africa where he beat everyone.

Redneck” Dick Murdoch (8/18/82) I didn't really see the half speed thing Kris was talking about, they definitly did some selling, but the early part of this match was pretty back and forth. Alot of the Mid-South TV is done at a fast pace, this was a little slower but still very good. This wasn't as great as their later matches but I think this is still a nomination. Mr. Wrestling II vs. Hacksaw Duggan (9/1/82) This was fun, but a step below a nomination. Duggan out of control spear was fucking sick. Also what was with JYD burying Akbar's army, was Akbar leaving the promotion?
