So I was just watching Three Men and a Baby Today because there was nothing else on, and I noticed that the movie has a totally unnecessary side plot. The hiding the drugs stuff is totally not needed and has no real relation to the rest of the movie. It has nothing to do with the main story, which is obviously about 3 bachelors taking care of a baby.

SO I was just think of other movies that had unnecessary side plots.

In Major League, Rick Vaughn sleeping with Dorn's wife- not really needed, went nowhere in the end.

A recent one, in the movie Envy, Jack Black's wife (Amy Poehler) running for Congress-came out of nowhere and really made no sense.

Any others?

That's true, but I always took it more as Vaughn getting back at Dorn for being a complete ass to him.

It's minor, but it's something I picked up on. The pore tightening thing, where the ringleader of the Plastics (can't remember her name) is talking about her pores are too big, before they immediately cut to the gay guy, who's doing the same thing a few minutes later.

I thought it was simply to play up his flaming status. I suppose parallels could be drawn between the mean girls and the gay guy, weird girl and Lohan. Or it may have been thrown in to suggest that the weird girl was not so different from the mean girl ringleader she once was friends with as she was equally elitist, malicious and patronising when push came to shove.

Actually, Dorn's wife did it to get back at Dorn for sleeping with random chick the night the Indians won the game to tie the Yankees...she saw him leave with her on television during their celebration. She then tells Dorn about it, and Dorn gets all pissed at Vaughn, but just tells him to strike Haywood out instead of doing something to him. At the end, after they win the pennant, Dorn punches Vaughn, and then they hug.

The end.

That's right. I just realized Vaughn had no idea who she was until after their encounter.
