Posted September 3, 200718 yr comment_5421433 Buzz Sawyer vs. Hacksaw Duggan This was a No DQ match, but was pretty clipped so we don't get enough to put it on a list. Shitty finish too Butch Reed v. Dick Slater This is a little too JIP to make it, especially because we have other matches of there's where we get more. Little Tokoyo v. Little Coco This is a very good midget match, would make a WWF set, but not this one. Jake Roberts v. Rob Reichsteiner Not as good as their TV match, which didn't make the cut. Jake is always fun, but no. Hacksaw Duggan vs. Buzz Sawyer...Coal Miner's Glove match We get pretty much all of this, but it was shockingly bad. Sloppy stuff, and the match was built around full moon spots. Some good punches, but this was far from a disc.
November 26, 200718 yr comment_5424526 No DQ: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Buzz Sawyer (11/22/85) This was going great until we got a big clip in the middle where we missed how both men got so sweaty and bloody. This is a letdown. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Rob Rechsteiner (11/20/85) Good match especially with the green Steiner. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & The Nightmare vs. Steve Doll & Brad Ringo (11/20/85) Squash. “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater vs. Perry Jackson (11/20/85) Squash. Lord Humongos vs. Shawn O’Reilly (11/20/85) Squash. Al Perez vs. Mike Scott (11/20/85) Squash. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Mark Hawk (11/20/85) Squash. The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) vs. Broadway Joe Malcolm & Ricky Starr (11/20/85) Squash. North American Heavyweight Title: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed © vs. “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater (11/29/85) This is JIP way into the match and a shame but this has a shitty finish. Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Rob Rechsteiner (12/13/85) Okay match. Slater comes out whining about all kinds of stuff. Hacksaw Duggan & “Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Mike Scott & Bill Tabb (12/4/85) Squash and Duggan brings back his future wife. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Ricky Gibson vs. Tommy Wright (12/4/85) Gibson wins with the great Gibson Leglock. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Steve Doll (12/4/85) Squash. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: The Nightmare vs. Shawn O’Reilly (12/4/85) Squash. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: “Mr. Unpredictable” Dick Slater vs. Al Perez (12/4/85) Fun match with a great prematch confrontation with Reed. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Jimmy Backlund & Mark Cooper (12/4/85) Jesus what a team. Coal Miners Glove: Hacksaw Duggan vs. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer (12/13/85) This is a strange match as it wasn’t as bloody or violent as I expected from this especially in a gimmick match and yes there was too many full moon spots. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (12/4/85) This is the perfect example of a more fun than good match as it was great watching these guys do their antics but it was really more of a glorified squash really. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Nick Patrick (12/4/85) The stuff with Duggan, Reed, & Slater was great stuff. The Bruise Brothers (Mad Dog Boyd & Porkchop Cash) vs. Larry Clark & Broadway Joe Malcolm (12/4/85) Squash. Al Perez vs. Ricky Starr (12/4/85) Squash. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Rob Rechsteiner (12/4/85) All-American vs. All-American here and they throw each other around on the mat like you would expect at the NCAA nationals. Doc would strike first though with the punches and the amateur stuff is over with. This would become a good big man match with both men throwing bombs and using high impact moves. Steiner almost killed Doc on a backdrop though as he didn’t get him high enough and Doc had to adjust his bump in the air then almost got him again on a belly-to-belly. Doc would finish him off with the running tackle and the Stampede for the win. I say we should move this forward. Mid-South TV Title Tournament: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Lord Humongous (12/4/85) Duggan can’t even get a good match out of Humongous although this match is historical as it is the last match ever taped at Irish McNeill’s.
