Buzz Sawyer vs. Koko Ware

This gets clipped in the middle unfortunately so we don't get enough to make a decision on. It looked good from what I saw

Jack Victory vs. Brett Sawyer

Fine undercardish match, nothing special

Buzz Sawyer vs. Chavo Guerrero

JIP and we don't get enough to really get a sense of this, fun while it lasted though

Michael Hayes vs. Terry Taylor

Cut in the middle, was a step below what will make a list

Terry Gordy vs. Hacksaw Duggan 5/30/86

This is the finals of the UWF tourney, and was more of an angle then a regular match, as Duggan gets busted open by OMG before the match and fights against the odds. Not very long, but it was pretty damn great, Duggan's punches rule and Gordy bumps like a king for them, one of the best piledrivers ever for the finish too.

One Man Gang vs. Perry Jackson

Squash

Jack Victory vs. The Missing Link

I like the Link, and I am hoping there will be a Link match worth putting on the discs, this isn't it.

Brett Sawyer vs. Gustavo Mendoza (5/9/86)

This was a damn good match between the two best undercarders in the UWF at this time. Both men looked great here getting a chance to shine against each other.

Kamala vs. Tracy Smothers (5/11/86)

Kamala returns to the UWF and squashes young Tracy.

Kortsia Korchenko vs. Perry Jackson (5/11/86)

Yet another squash and Watts is really going selling the Russian shit on commentary. Doc attacks Korchenko after the match for draping the flag on Jackson and beats Korchenko up until the Bladerunners attack. DiBiase runs out and helps clear the ring. The beginning of the Watts angle starts after the break where Watts calls Gilbert into the ring and tells him to quit laying the Russian flag on people. Hot Stuff International comes out in full force to protect Gilbert which prompts Doc to come running out but he is restrained until Watts take a cheap shot at Korchenko. DiBiase runs in and the war is on as IT’S BREAKIN DOWN IN TULSA!!!!!!!!!!!! Watts is laying the punches in on the Bladerunners as Doc & DiBiase take care of the rest. Jim Ross fuckin rules on the commentary. No doubt in my mind that the whole angle must go on the set.

Ted DiBiase vs. Gustavo Mendoza (5/11/86)

Michael Hayes joins Jim Ross on commentary and one of the greatest announce teams ever is born. DiBiase was tremendous in this as he was at his peak of his career in the ring.

Jack Victory vs. Dave Peterson (5/11/86)

Victory looked pretty good here and won with the gourdbuster.

The Fantastics vs. Rick Steiner & Buzz Sawyer (5/11/86)

Very good fast paced start to this match with all four men working hard. Rogers hit a great dropkick on Buzz that knocked him from the ring to the floor and Buzz sold it like death. This match was really really hot but the TV time ran out before the finish which sucked.

North American Heavyweight Title: Hacksaw Duggan © vs. Kortsia Korchenko (5/9/86)

Duggan made this fun.

UWF TV Title: “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer © vs. Koko Ware (5/9/86)

This looked good but it was clipped up.

Gustavo Mendoza vs. Perry Jackson (5/11/86)

Very good competitive match between the two guys who job to the big boys. Gustavo threw a great clothesline and used a real short snap neckbreaker to win. Really good match.

Ted DiBiase vs. Gary Young (5/11/86)

Michael Hayes was killin DiBiase on commentary throughout the entire match. DiBiase was so damn good in this and Young wasn’t quite yet Gorgeous. DiBiase threw a great clothesline here taking Young’s head off.

The Sheepherders vs. Brett Sawyer & Tracy Smothers (5/11/86)

Sawyer & Smothers give a great account of themselves especially Sawyer but they just couldn’t take out the Sheeps. Still a really solid TV match which was great about UWF at this time as just about every TV match was at least good.

Kamala vs. Dave Peterson (5/11/86)

The Kamala matches were the exception to the previous rule but they were needed for his gimmick. Duggan comes running to ringside before the match and decides to take Peterson’s place, well this is a better option. Duggan starts in on Kamala immediately and Kamala sells a Duggan clothesline like death. Duggan kills him with punches but Kamala gets the advantage and starts using his chops on Duggan taking him down. The brawl goes to the floor where Duggan gets the advantage and rams Kamala head first into the announce table. The brawl goes back to the ring and Duggan hits his big spear and IT’S BREAKIN DOWN IN TULSA but Kamala gets the advantage back taking him down with a big foot and hits his big splash but Duggan kicks out as Jim Ross goes completely apeshit. Kamala chops the referee out of frustration causing the DQ as Akbar enters the ring but Kamala chops him by accident. Duggan sends Kamala out of the ring and goes for a spear on Akbar but he ducks out as well as Duggan IS WALKING TALL. This was tremendous and needs to go on DVD as an extra.

Jack Victory vs. ? (5/11/86)

Dark Journey now a babyface said that she had someone that could defeat Lady Maxine’s man Jack Victory on this block earlier and before the match Maxine jumps DJ while Victory holds her so she could use her whip on DJ. This was to setup the Missing Link coming to town to take care of business.

Terry Taylor vs. Michael Hayes (5/11/86)

DiBiase is on commentary so you can probably tell what is going to happen here. Hayes says before the match if DiBiase is on commentary so DiBiase goes ahead down to the ring and pleads with Taylor to take his spot. Taylor tells Teddy to wear him out so the match starts in a wild brawl. DiBiase’s punches were so great here taking Hayes to the floor with 1 minute left of TV time. DiBiase pounds Hayes’ head into the turnbuckles as the credits roll and continues the punching attack as TV time runs out.

UWF Heavyweight Title Tournament – Round 1: Jack Victory vs. Brett Sawyer (5/30/86)

Decent match.

Rick Steiner vs. Perry Jackson (5/25/86)

Gilbert comes out before the match talking about his respect for Watts and how he needs to change, so it begins. Steiner wins the match.

One Man Gang vs. Ken Massey (5/25/86)

Squash.

Jim Ross interviews Dark Journey and Michael Hayes is in the ring wanting some so he gets slapped.

Gilbert comes out again wanting to talk to Watts and this time Watts comes out with Gilbert telling him that he will give him the Russian flag. Watts takes the flag but here comes the Blade Runners then the Russians attack Watts from behind as Gilbert hits Watts with the shovel. They leave Watts laying then bury him under the Russian flag as the crowd goes apeshit. DiBiase, Duggan, & Doc show up to clean house but the damage was done. Erik, Joel, & Micah Watts all show up to really add the drama. Slam dunk extra.

“Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Gustavo Mendoza (5/25/86)

Doc comes out enraged and destroys Mendoza.

The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) vs. Ted DiBiase & Terry Taylor (5/25/86)

DiBiase dominated early especially on Hayes where you could just feel the hatred there between both men. Taylor tagged in and slowed it down with Buddy who did the fucking Nishimura headscissors spot. Birds tried to get the advantage on Taylor but he fought out and tagged in DiBiase who started on Hayes again but met a boot to the face when coming into the corner. Buddy tagged in and continued the Birds offensive barrage but DiBiase just kept fighting back and then engaged in a slugfest with Hayes. Hayes was bumping madman here taking shots from DiBiase & Taylor. Taylor would trade nearfalls with the Birds before Roberts would take stereo atomic drops from DiBiase & Taylor. Buddy would send DiBiase to the floor with Hayes trying to piledriver him but DiBiase ran him into the ringpost. Birds then took it to DiBiase when he entered the ring as the Tulsa crowd was going nuts. DiBiase would counter a Hayes suplex into one of his own and the double tag was made with Taylor taking care of the Birds. DiBiase would join in for the 4-way brawl and Taylor would get Roberts in the O’Connor Roll but Hayes would hit him with a clothesline. Hayes then picked up Roberts and suplexed him face first on Taylor for the pinfall. This was a really solid match and it goes on the block.

The Fantastics brawl with Ivan & Nikita Koloff, Korchenko, & Gilbert until Bill Watts cleans house with his baseball bat. Another extra.

UWF Heavyweight Title Tournament – Round 1: Chavo Guerrero vs. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer (5/30/86)

JIP pretty deep and it looked good.

UWF Heavyweight Title Tournament – Round 1: Michael “PS” Hayes vs. Terry Taylor (5/30/86)

This was clipped up and a good match.

UWF Heavyweight Title Tournament – Quarterfinals: Kamala vs. Jack Victory (5/30/86)

Squash.

Kamala vs. Mike Reed (5/25/86)

Squash.

Ivan & Nikita Koloff, & Kortsia Korchenko vs. Jeff Gaylord, Perry Jackson, & Ken Massey (5/25/86)

Squash.

Next we get an awesome Dusty/Watts promo.

We get a fucking awesome Freebirds video to Can’t Stop Rocking that will go on the World Class set for sure.

Jack Victory vs. Brett Sawyer (5/25/86)

Good win for Jack.

UWF TV Title: Buzz Sawyer © vs. Terry Taylor (5/25/86)

Taylor brings out Chavo Guerrero to counter Rick Steiner at ringside. Buzz bumps his ass off here for Taylor especially on a dropkick where he jumped through the ropes perfectly to the floor. Buzz missed a huge top rope splash landing knees first but Steiner tripped up Taylor and as Buzz had him pinned Chavo put the foot on the rope. Chavo & Steiner brawled on the floor as Taylor countered a suplex into an inside cradle for the 3 count as the Tulsa crowd goes apeshit. Short match but a very fun one although I’m not as high on this one as Phil was thus not a nomination on my end because everything just seemed too rushed for me.

UWF Heavyweight Title Tournament – Finals: Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Hacksaw Duggan (5/30/86)

Gang & Duggan brawl before the match and Duggan gets fucked up but he comes back to put up a valiant fight against Gordy. To me this has a lot of similiarities to Flair vs. DiBiase in how everything pans out and although this isn’t as legendary it is still damn good. If we are putting Flair/DiBiase on the block then maybe we should put this up too.

One Man Gang vs. Perry Jackson (6/13/86)

Squash.

The Missing Link vs. Jack Victory (6/13/86)

Not too good.

“Dr. Death” Steve Willliams vs. The Shadow (6/8/86)

Doc takes care of Shadow pretty easily and man is this crowd fuckin nuts.

Tommy Gilbert & Bill Watts cut a great promos where he resigns from his post as a referee due to the situation with Eddie & Watts.

The Bladerunners & Kortsia Korchenko vs. Jeff Gaylord, Perry Jackson, & Brett Sawyer (6/8/86)

Gaylord as a rookie is hilarious. Hot Stuff brings out a big picture of Watts being buried under the Russian flag to a riotous response. This was a squash and Gaylord never even got in the ring.

Ted DiBiase vs. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer (6/8/86)

DiBiase talks shit on Michael Hayes before the match and gets jumped from behind by Buzz. DiBiase used some great armdrags here and Buzz really goes to work on DiBiase’s back with backbreakers and grounded bearhugs. DiBiase gets some nearfalls with an inside cradle and a backslide to huge pops but Buzz takes him back down with the bearhug before bringing him back up for a nice belly-to-belly. DiBiase gets his comeback and throws some great punches along with his patented back elbow smash before hitting a great powerslam to get the win. This was a solid match and it's on the border for me as a nomination. I have no problem with it being on the block if Phil & Tom are down for it.

UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics © vs. The Sheepherders (6/8/86)

Tulsa women love them some Fantastics and all four men come into this match with bandages on their heads from previous battles against each other. Fants hit the ring and take out the Sheeps while still in their ring gear as the match goes to a break. So we are JIP with Rogers hitting a monkey flip on Miller. Fants show great teamwork with their quick tags and keeping Luke in their corner. This soon turns into a really good back and forth match as the Sheeps start making quick tags as well. Fulton gets the hot tag and it turns into a four-way brawl. Fulton ends up getting spike piledriven on the floor by Butch & Victory and Luke gets the pin to win the titles or so it seems. Tommy Gilbert comes running out and tells Carl Fergie that Fulton was thrown over the top rope as TV time runs out with no decision but the Fants get their titles back. This was a wild brawl but like the above match a borderline nomination with the JIP part being a big factor in it on my end not crossing said border.
