Posted September 8, 200718 yr comment_5421646 Man was this great, super near falls by Buzz, as he gets a bunch of his great looking offense in, Including an awesome belly to belly throw, DiBiase fires back and it really is the battle of the awesome powerslams. Makes a set.
September 8, 200718 yr comment_5421648 I enjoyed this, and can see it making a set. The story that both wrestlers tell was really good. When I saw this for the 1st time a year or so ago I loved it; now I just like it. It probaly belongs on a set though.
September 8, 200718 yr comment_5421656 Ted DiBiase vs. “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer (6/8/86) DiBiase talks shit on Michael Hayes before the match and gets jumped from behind by Buzz. DiBiase used some great armdrags here and Buzz really goes to work on DiBiase’s back with backbreakers and grounded bearhugs. DiBiase gets some nearfalls with an inside cradle and a backslide to huge pops but Buzz takes him back down with the bearhug before bringing him back up for a nice belly-to-belly. DiBiase gets his comeback and throws some great punches along with his patented back elbow smash before hitting a great powerslam to get the win. This was a solid match and it's on the border for me as a nomination. I have no problem with it being on the block if Phil & Tom are down for it.
September 8, 200718 yr Author comment_5421658 I'll show this match to Tomk and let him be the decider
September 10, 200718 yr comment_5421717 If this is the same match I criticized in the other folder then we are setting the bar really low.
September 12, 200718 yr comment_5421824 Then maybe we need to lower the number of matches. Obviously I am only one voice (and not a nominating one at that) but I do not see the "greatness" that you guys are seeing.
September 12, 200718 yr Author comment_5421827 I dunno Will, I think you are one voice here. It isn't in my top 20 or anything, but I thought it was a really fun TV match with a ton of crazy athletic moves and bumping from both guys. I bet this ends up finishing reasonably high (top half) in the final vote, I mean I really hated most of the Takada v. Yamazaki matches from the Other Japan set, but I recognized they should go on a set. I think we can table this for now anyway, we are aways away from solidifying this set, by the end of the nominating process we will have well over 150 matches, so when we get to culling we will definitly keep your dislike of this match in mind.
September 12, 200718 yr comment_5421843 Phil, don't get me wrong... besides the obvious burial of Sawyer's finish, I do not actively dislike this match. It may or may not even be on my Dibiase or Sawyer comps. I just think we need to be shooting higher here.
