Posted September 10, 200718 yr comment_5421700 Terry Gordy vs. Terry Taylor 6/13/86 This was JIP, but was a damn good big title match. Gordy beats on Taylor and they do a great dramatic sleeper spot, Taylor gets a super hot comeback which has the Houston coliseum rocking, before Gordy takes him out with the clothesline. Good title match Chavo Guerrero vs. Buzz Sawyer 6/13/86 This is a No DQ bloody brawl, with Sawyer being totally awesome and sick, spitting a gob of Chavo's blood int he air and catching it in his mouth, Chavo fires back with some heated brawling himself and wins with an awesome twisting tope. Total blast Freebirds vs. Rock & Roll Express This was fun, but pretty JIP. Morton is wearing the face mask, and Hayes is really great at cheap shotting him with right hands. Hot tag as always but kind of a bullshit finish. We have lots of fuller, better R+R's but this was fun Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner I liked large portions of this, as Chavo was knotting up Steiners legs with theigh kicks, still it fell apart a bit at the end, and doesn't make the bar. Freebirds vs. Hacksaw Duggan/Terry Taylor 6/27/86 I really dug this, we had six minutes of quality Freebirds horseshit, crying, stooging, farting around. At one point Duggan does an awesome taunting moonwalk. Roberts is a star here, bumping huge for Duggan. It has a fun blowout brawl, and then Duggan and OMG start wailing away at each other. Fun stuff. Libyan v. Brett Sawyer Libyan is managed by Eddie Gilbert for some reason, he really stinks, keeps picking up Sawyer at two, although he has a nice missed elbow drop. Sawyer tries hard, but this was stinky. Kamala/One Man Gang vs. Hacksaw Duggan/Ted DiBiase 6/27/86 Totally crazy breaking loose in HOUSTON kind of match. Duggan's punches on One Man Gang were totally awesome. This was pretty short, which is the only strike against it. I am still nomming it though Sting v. Jeff Gaylord This might have been booked as a rib. This is Gaylord v. Sting with the stip that Gaylord has to last 20 minutes with Sting to win one of Hot Stuff's girlfriends. So it is a match where they have to tease going 20 with fucking Jeff Gaylord. Terry Taylor vs. Buddy Roberts This was pretty fun, Roberts has the one of the best elbow drops in wrestling history. Still not a good finish, and a step below their TV match, doesn't make the cut.
November 19, 200717 yr comment_5424169 UWF Heavyweight Title: Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy © vs. Terry Taylor (6/13/86) JIP which sucks because this is a damn good match but we do have almost 10 minutes of this so it should go on the block. No DQ: Chavo Guerrero vs. “Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer (6/13/86) Buzz is ruthless here on Chavo just bashing Chavo’s head into a chair on the floor and just manhandling him in general. Chavo hits a gusher and Buzz bites it of course then spits in the air before catching it in his mouth which is fucking great. Chavo would fight back and busted Buzz open turning the tables just beating the piss out of Buzz. Chavo finishes him off with a great twisting tope move and this is a sure-fire nomination. Buzz calls Chavo a spic numerous times after the match which brings Chavo back to the ring and they have a great post match brawl with Buzz murdering Chavo with a powerslam and Chavo getting another pinfall with a cross body block. UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. Buddy Roberts (6/8/86) Roberts gets an early nearfall with a dropkick but Taylor would answer with three of his own sending Buddy to the floor. Taylor would bring Buddy back in the ring the hard way then worked on a wristlock but Buddy would break out by bashing Taylor’s head into the turnbuckle then tieing Taylor up in the Tree of Woe and just pounding Taylor relentlessly. Taylor would get up though and did the same to Roberts then brought him out of the corner and kicked him in the gut. Roberts is bleeding heavily from the back of his head and that sparks him as he gives Taylor a swinging neckbreaker for a nearfall. Roberts would then hit an elbow smash off the middle rope for another nearfall followed up with a suplex for another nearfall. Taylor would block another suplex attempt though with one of his own then got a small package for another nearfall. Roberts would go for a piledriver but Taylor would backdrop him then started firing the shots and popping Hayes for his trouble. Roberts would take advantage of that though by getting Taylor in an O’Connor Roll but Taylor would shove Roberts right into Hayes and caught Roberts with a schoolboy to win the match. This was damn good TV match with the hardway juice being a great subplot and both men worked really hard here. This should move forward on the set. They show clips from the 6/14 Superdome show but they haven’t made any of the main matches available. WTF indeed. The Missing Link vs. Gustavo Mendoza (6/8/86) Squash. Kamala & One Man Gang vs. Ken Massey & Brett Sawyer (6/8/86) Mega squash. Koko Ware vs. The Shadow (6/8/86) Koko looks good. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Jeff Gaylord (6/8/86) Duggan comes out before the match challenging Gordy to a fight but Hayes would come out talking shit and he got popped. Duggan & Gordy started brawling with DiBiase joining in going after Hayes with TV time running out. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) (6/13/86) JIP from Houston and a fun match. Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (6/27/86) Good match but that’s about it. Jim Ross getting a dig in at Buzz Sawyer for going to World Class was great. UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. The Libyan (6/22/86) Libyan gets a title shot on his TV debut and this is a decent match. UWF Heavyweight Title: Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy © vs. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (6/22/86) This is the first big singles match and in Tulsa of course. I can’t say enough about when these two go against each other as it’s nothing but just hard-hitting action with great bumps by Gordy. Doc’s selling for Gordy’s punches was great as he could go down at anytime but just kept standing. Gordy then threw Doc so hard into the turnbuckle it fucking broke, so fucking great. The ring crew came up and fixed the rope as the guys were pounding each other and fixed it pretty quickly. No one man held the advantage for too long as it was great back and forth action but Doc backdropping Gordy out of a piledriver attempt to the floor would turn the tide. Doc throwing Gordy around like a ragdoll into the turnbuckles was great. Hayes would come down to ringside but Watts would soon counter him. Doc hit a big clothesline following up with a tackle that sent Tommy Gilbert to the floor. Hayes would trip Doc up, which of course brought Watts over to take care of him. Doc would carry Gordy around for the Oklahoma Stampede with Watts counting and the Tulsa crowd going absolutely bonkers. IT’S BREAKING DOWN IN TULSA as the OU contingency clear the ring. This was greatness and a definite nomination even with the non-finish. “Cowboy” Bill Watts vs. Sting (6/22/86) Gilbert would explain before the match that Watts had ran Korchenko & Rock out of the UWF. Sting went into this match legit scared to death because of what he thought Watts thought of him personally but Watts told him that he knew he had potential and that he’s not a problem. Watts tells Gilbert that he would beat Sting then would whoop his ass too. Watts would win quickly with the Stampede then started pounding Gilbert bloody with a belt and Gilbert bled a ton here. Freebirds came out and Watts held his own for a while but the numbers game was too much and Gordy caught Watts off the top rope with the Oriental Spike. Gordy then puts the Spike on Watts and Watts bleeds from the mouth until the dressing room empties for a fucking insane brawl. This was phenomenal and a slam dunk extra. Jim Ross was godly at this time. Koko Ware vs. Gustavo Mendoza (6/22/86) Fun squash with Koko throwing one of the greatest clotheslines ever. The Missing Link vs. Jack Victory (6/22/86) Link would squash Victory but Victory promises revenge. The Missing Link vs. Jack Victory (6/27/86) Victory has his revenge here in John Tatum & Missy Hyatt and Link has to fight off everyone. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) vs. Hacksaw Duggan & Terry Taylor (6/27/86) Duggan brawls with Gang before the match. Freebirds were great as chickenshit here with them selling and bumping their asses off and Duggan’s moonwalk in response to Hayes was tremendous. The stuff with Buddy not tagging in because Hayes hit him twice accidentally was great. Taylor was good taking punishment but would catch Roberts with the five-arm, which at this time brought out the Gang who brawled with Duggan all over the place. Hayes would do something to Taylor to get the pin as the camera didn’t catch it. Fun stuff. Brett Sawyer vs. The Libyan (6/27/86) Sawyer gets the win. Chavo Guerrero vs. Ken Massey (6/22/86) Squash. DiBiase then has a wild brawl with Hayes after Hayes expresses his anger with the fans calling him a sissy. Roberts joins in but Taylor follows up then Gordy then Duggan and IT’S BREAKING LOOSE IN TULSA as the Birds are sent running. Jesus the UWF in this time period some of the hottest TV ever and it still holds up as well today as then. Sting vs. Brett Sawyer (6/22/86) Sting gets the big win. The Missing Link vs. Kamala (6/22/86) This featured the debut of John Tatum & Missy Hyatt. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. The Libyan & Gustavo Mendoza (6/22/86) Fants looked good. Ted DiBiase, Hacksaw Duggan, & Terry Taylor vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, Michael “PS” Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) (6/22/86) This is nothing but a wild 6-way brawl from the start but it would eventually settle down to a normal match. It would start kicking ass even better but TV time would run out. Ted DiBiase & Hacksaw Duggan vs. Kamala & One Man Gang (6/27/86) This was supposed to be DiBiase vs. Kamala but Duggan & Gang decided to make this a tag match and this starts off as a tremendous brawl. Duggan just hammers Gang with some tremendous punches and DiBiase doesn’t bullshit here either. Akbar gets his ass kicked too when he enters the ring. Gang has to pull Kamala out of there to regroup while DiBiase loads up the glove so Devastation Inc. decides to leave the area. This really wasn’t a match perse but it should definitely be on the set somewhere. Sting vs. Jeff Gaylord (7/11/86) Competitive squash. Duggan comes out with a neckbrace and gets some boos to which he buries those fans. Gang comes out and declares himself the winner by forfeit. Gary Young vs. The Libyan (7/6/86) Young gets the quick win. Chavo Guerrero vs. Gustavo Mendoza (7/6/86) Fun squash. UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. John Tatum & Jack Victory (7/6/86) This was a really good match but these teams had better later on. UWF TV Title: Terry Taylor © vs. Buddy Roberts (7/6/86) This was another good match but not as good as their match a month earlier and this was more about Bill Watts coming back more than anything. Hacksaw Duggan vs. One Man Gang (7/6/86) We have this unedited on another disc. UWF TV Title; Terry Taylor © vs. Buddy Roberts (7/11/86) This was another good match in their series but was really a setup for the big six-man match.
