Mid-South Tag Titles: Mike George & Junkyard Dog © vs. The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) (2/3/82) Controversy before the match as Skandor Akbar is in the ring with the Samoans and not Ernie Ladd. Ladd complains before the match and ends up being jumped by the Samoans. One Man Gang then makes his debut and helps destroy Ladd. This angle cancels the scheduled match for now at least. Ted DiBiase vs. Ron Cheatham (2/3/82) Squash. Akbar demands the title match happen later on the show after the match. Mid-South Tag Titles: Mike George & Junkyard Dog © vs. The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) (2/3/82) This was a good back-and-forth match until Mike George missed a running shoulderblock into the corner and hit the post sending him to the floor. JYD was taking care of Sika in the ring but knocked the referee to the floor, so Akbar came into the ring with a steel chair that JYD got and blocked a fireball with. George & Afa ended up back in the ring where Afa gave George the Samoan Drop on the steel chair for the victory. Bob Roop vs. Frank Monte (2/3/82) Roop looked good. Mr. Olympia vs. Paul Orndorff (2/3/82) There was some great back-and-forth action early on in this with both men trading the advantage numerous times. Orndorff hit an awesome 180 degree clothesline off the middle rope that Olympia took like a fuckin champ right on the head. Orndorff’s knees looked vicious here and his punches looked great also. Olympia to his credit took everything Orndorff had and kept fighting back every time which pissed Orndorff off. Olympia even kicked out of Orndorff’s powerslam and kicked Orndorff away from the figure-four then backdropped Orndorff as he tried a piledriver. Olympia then caught Orndorff in the sleeper and rolled on the mat with the grounded version but Orndorff kept fighting back trying to grab the ropes but he couldn’t fight no more and went to sleep. This was a great match with a great story that Olympia took everything Orndorff could dish at him but kept fighting back. This goes on the block. Brian Blair vs. Ed Wiskowski (2/3/82) Blair gets some better competition here. Wiskowski used some good offense using the ropes with a hot shot, a slingshot to the ropes with Blair falling back on his knees, and a slingshot with Blair’s neck hitting the bottom rope. Blair made a comeback though and the match ended in a TV draw. The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) vs. Bill Ash & Ricky Ferrara (2/3/82) Squash. Paul Orndorff vs. Brian Blair (2/3/82) A battle between two really good friends in real life so this has potential. This was a really smooth and sleek wrestling match with both men going back to their training days working under Hiro Matsuda using chain wrestling. Orndorff starts heeling it up though and the punches start flying with Blair answering back with some nice forearms. Both men go crashing over the top rope in a leverage move with Orndorff taking Blair with him and that changed the match. Orndorff brings Blair back in the ring and finishes him off with a driving knee to the shoulder from the middle rope. Really good match. Louisiana Heavyweight Title: Junkyard Dog © vs. Bob Roop (2/3/82) Roop tries to use his brains to counter JYD’s power but JYD keeps getting the advantage with his punches keeping Roop at bay. JYD knocks Roop into the ropes and Roop’s foot gets caught in the bottom rope as the match goes to break. Shockingly they actually came back from break with the match finished and Boyd Pierce telling everyone that the finish would be shown in its entirety. Roop is calling for timeout on the floor and Paul Orndorff shows up to help Roop and Roop gets back in the ring. Orndorff accidentally hits Roop and JYD hits the Thump on him then slams Orndorff on Roop. Bob Orton Jr. shows up and he throws him on Orndorff before hitting a big forearm on Roop for the win. Ted DiBiase & Mr. Olympia vs. Bob Orton Jr. & Ed Wiskowski (2/3/82) Good little match with some good teamwork by both teams who were makeshift. Frank Monte vs. Ron Cheatham (2/3/82) This ends in a TV draw.
October 28, 200717 yr comment_5423217 Lots of fun stuff on this show, I like how Roop and JYD match up with each other, but still haven't seen the one spectacular singles match between the two. Blair v. Orndorff was pretty good too Mr. Olympia vs. Paul Orndorff (2/3/82) This may have been the best Paul Orndorff match I have seen, Olympia's clothesline bump was sick, and Orndorff did a super nasty job working on the neck post clothesline. The knees to the back of the head and neck were pretty violent looking. This makes a set for sure
October 29, 200717 yr comment_5423252 I'm tempted to vote yes on the Orndorf v Olympia match. It is only six minutes or so but feels like a really complete six minutes.
