"Leaping" Lanny Poffo defeats "Sweet Music Man" Billy Joe Travis with the Moonsault. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne)(c) defeat The Eliminators (Perry Saturn & John Kronus) w/"Number One" Paul Jones by DQ. It looked like The Eliminators had the match won when Saturn ko'd Davis with one of the title belts behind the ref's back. Ref turns around and starts counting but sees the title still in the ring and, putting two and two together, calls for the bell. Special Challenge Match. Super Strong Machine defeats Abdullah the Butcher after three consecutive "Machine" lariats managed to put the "Mad Man from the Sudan" down. (By virtue of his victory, SSM now faces Kevin Sullivan) Super Strong Machine vs Kevin Sullivan ends in a no contest when the Master Blasters ran down to bail out Sullivan. A group beat down until the Zero Fighters ran down with chairs and ran the heels off. NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title. "Wrestling Royalty" Brian Christopher (c) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll defeats Too Cold Scorpio after interference from Lanny Poffo. NWA United States Title. "Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Erich defeats "Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller (c) w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller when Fuller submitted to the Von Erich claw. Ron clearly wanted to break the hold but remembering the stipulation he held himself back. NEW CHAMPION!!! 1989 Starrcade Series Line Up. Block A. In a rare twist, the heels are caught and the Nightmares retain. It took a lot, but SSM puts Abby down and gets his match with Sullivan. All hell breaks loose as this gem of a feud continues. Oh man, 2 Cold will be coming after Poffo. Another fun feud here. Kevin wins the gold with the claw! It's great seeing Kevin get a push here. The Starrcade Series is one of my favorite events of the year. Can't wait! The Doctor is called and he proves to be the deciding factor in the big main event. I have a feeling the Horsemen are heading for a break up or a reboot. Good story going on here. Your big events always deliver!
