I am under the impression that any wrestler that is the wrestler of any year should be a nominee and Syuri is the wrestlers of 2021. She's just reaching her prime now and had two all time classics and was so good Stardom had to abandon their long term plans to crown her champion. A lot of her earlier stuff while she was still fighting in MMA is good, but not elite. However, once she retired from fighting and went wrestling full time look the fuck out! Obviously her kicks and submissions are amazing, but she gets the drama of wrestling so well. The passion she shows while fighting as an underdog, or the meanness she shows as a bad ass ace both rule. A perfect blend of shoot style and pro wrestling.

2021 had an insanely high volume of great stuff to watch, and stiff competition for best wrestler of the year. Even still, Syuri stood out amongst the pack. She's versatile, has great offence, and her big match performances go without saying, having bonafide classics against Momo and Utami. One I am certainly looking forward to checking out more of.

It's pretty much a toss up between her and Utami (BTW, she isn't nominated yet ?), I'd probably have Utami above but both have had an awesome 2021.

After watching her most hyped matches, she is #1 on my list of "Wrestlers I never ever want to watch again."

It's a shame Utami overshadowed Syuri due to the long title reign because Syuri missed out on winning PWI/WON /Tokyo Sports awards even with her output of great matches. I have a sad feeling that she will be surpassed in canon awards in 2022 for some reason. She did win Stardom's 2021 Outstanding Performance Award. Ranked #23 in Cagematch's Top Female Workers of All Time. Syuri is technically sound, good strikes and submissions, professional, emotes well, very experienced, can do comedy or serious work. Can have an epic match on command, it seems. Insane stamina and toughness. Good person, as well. Any criticisms really stem from her booking/push, not her in-ring work.

I don't see much in Syuri. I'm kind of baffled by the response to the Utami match. Pretty basic stuff. Syuri has some clear limitations in the ring and it's surprising she's not better with her experience level. There are a way better workers in Stardom with less experience.

She's great at the bloated "epic" Okada-Isms that go obnoxiously long I guess.
