Hacksaw Duggan & Johnny Rich vs. Mr. Olympia & Boris Zuhkov (6/22/83)

 

This is a rematch from two weeks ago where Rich got the upset win over Olympia. Watts saying that if being ugly won matches then Zuhkov would be world champ was hilarious. Rich takes a beating but Duggan comes in for a 4-way brawl until DiBiase comes out and Duggan breaks the cast over his hand to reveal the black glove. The heels hold Duggan up for DiBiase to load up his glove and DiBiase pounds on Duggan but Duggan would power out of that and hit a spear on Zuhkov then dragged Rich on top of Zuhkov for another 3 count. This was fun.

 

Mr. Wrestling II vs. Arn Anderson (6/22/83)

 

Arn is back wearing his Panama Jack hat and II is there wearing his newly won National Heavyweight Title belt. Very competitive match with Arn showing that he was getting better.

 

North American Heavyweight Title: Junkyard Dog © vs. Bob Roop (6/22/83)

 

Roop has also been campaigning in Georgia like II & Arn but has come back for this title match. I love how on commentary that Watts is burying JYD but is saying that they are Butch Reed’s words. Watts is saying that JYD has gotten fat, doesn’t want to work out, and only cares about living the fast life. Roop puts up a great fight but JYD finishes him off with the big Thump.

 

Mil Mascaras vs. Super Destroyer (6/22/83)

 

Mil makes his Mid-South debut and Super D jumps him at the bell. We miss a little of the match and Mil finishes the match off with a diving body press to win.

 

Tim Horner vs. Tony Zane (6/22/83)

 

Spotlight match for Horner.

 

Mr. Wrestling II vs. Bob Roop (6/22/83)

 

This was a good hard hitting match between two legit tough guys.

 

Rip Rogers vs. Art Crews (6/22/83)

 

Good match and Rip looked really good.

Rich has gotten some cheap wins lately but it ends here as Reed destroys him.

Mid-South Tag Titles: Ted DiBiase & Mr. Olympia © vs. Hacksaw Duggan & Junkyard Dog (6/22/83)

 

It’s a 4-way brawl from the start with Duggan & JYD going crazy and Duggan slamming Olympia into the ringpost. Boris Zuhkov runs out and the heels try to get the match cancelled due to Olympia being KOed but Grizzly Smith says that the titles must be defended so DiBiase brings out the newest member of the Rat Pack in King Kong Bundy and the brawl is back on. Duggan looks great here throwing great punches and all but dominated DiBiase. JYD knocked DiBiase into the referee and the referee went to the floor as Butch Reed jumps Duggan on the floor and then Reed hits a fantastic flying shoulderblock off the top rope on JYD. DiBiase & Akbar then stomp on JYD for the DQ finish and Duggan runs brings out the 2x4 and the faces use it to clean house.

 

Magnum TA vs. Arn Anderson (6/22/83)

 

Both men look good and I still love that Magnum used the atomic drop as his finisher.

 

George Weingroff vs. Tony Zane (6/22/83)

 

Weingroff who was such a great talent considering he was blind wins with the Banana Split which was a grounded cobra twist.

Really fun set of shows, nothing makes a set but I really enjoyed it all. Arn's panama hat is spectacular
