I never cared for battle royal to determine n°1 contender for major titles. Plus this is basically just gonna be "who does the job to Mox", unless they do something creative in term of facing Tanahashi. Or Goto. Ah ah ah. Goto. Sure.

June 8, 20223 yr comment_5983233 There's nothing wrong about cooling off the former world champ after he lost the title, especially if you don't want him to job again on his way to not regain his title immediately. The Dave Finlay match will be one thing : excellent. Plus it may be the platform to an angle building to the match for Page at Forbidden Door (like being attacked by Bullet Club or something). They have two weeks, so they can't focus all their guys in that bullshit interim champion deal, they have to build the card as much as they can (while "waiting" for the Dominion results in the meantime). And I would guess Page gets a big match there, so that's the priority.

Tony Khan even sent out a tweet using analytics to justify why Moxley is the number one contender and is getting the bye. Rightly or wrongly, there was a perception among some fans that Hangman was flopping as champion, so not having him involved in the interim title situation might inadvertently send a message that TK agrees with that assessment of Page's time on top.

In any other scenario the former champ vs number 1 contender is the instant response To have him not involved is puzzling

Like, having Page vs Mox to decide who'll face Tana at Forbidden Door wouldn't be the worst idea, since it's the former champ and the #1 contender. Those are the two top dogs in your division, makes sense one of them would hold the interim title. Having a Battle Royale to decide who's going to face Tana would be okay, too. But when you already have the #1 guy defined, why not just go with him vs Tana for the Interim Belt to begin with? It feels like adding extra steps.

They are already at a disadvantage since they have to wrestle twice where Mox is only wrestling once. I am interested to see who they have face Mox and probably lose though. PAC vs Buddy Matthews should be good. Page vs Finlay is just feeding Page a win, but hopefully it's good too. Probably get some more MJF stuff and hopefully another announced match or two for Forbidden Door.

They have two weeks to build a PPV with NJPW. Page has to have a big match. He's facing a NJPW guys this week. Priorities, people.

For reference, they did wrestle in Mox's G-1, although I think White is much better now. I wonder if Page vs. White is on the table here, or Page/someone vs. White/Cole or White/Juice. That would help bring Page back to the lingering story with the Bucks. All I really want out of the show is Bryan-ZSJ. If they give me that, everything else is gravy.

June 8, 20223 yr comment_5983257 The battle royal has been turned into one of those 21-person "Casino Battle Royale" deals with a mystery joker entrant. From the ones I've seen them do, I'm not really a big fan of that whole format with groups of four coming out. It's just too much too fast and turns into a giant mess. Besides the battle royal, PAC vs. Buddy Matthews has also been added in addition to Moxley vs. Battle Royal Winner and Hangman vs. David Finlay. Should at least be a fun show tonight!
