I wonder if perhaps they tell the story in a way that's not chronological and they do end here? Could show the ends for some in flash forwards or something.
November 2, 20222 yr comment_5993388 The only Von Erich movie I would be interested in seeing would end with cancer-stricken Fritz getting left by Doris (though apparently this happened before Kerry killed himself - I thought it was the other way around) and Fritz finally realizing that he is responsible for the deaths of four of his six sons (and I am sure that in a movie they could take enough creative license to make Fritz feel responsible for the death of Jack Jr. as well). And it should definitely contain a scene where Fritz tells Kevin that if he had any guts he would shoot himself as well.
November 5, 20222 yr Author comment_5993617 That’s a great title I honestly couldn’t have come up with. It’s so kind of obvious but only until it’s presented to you as such.
November 5, 20222 yr comment_5993627 Who's playing David Manning? A great actor could steal the film portraying that scumbag glory hog.

I'm sure he did feel responsible since after it happened he never went back to the Northeast and let Waldo keep using the Von Erich name in the WWWF. I'm really interested in how they present Fritz pushing his kids into an industry that at least two had no business in. Mike never wanted to be a wrestler, he wanted to be a camera man but after David died he had to be the replacement Von Erich so the Freebirds feud could keep going. Chris wanted to be a wrestler, but physically couldn't but no one would tell him no.
November 6, 20222 yr comment_5993714 It’s a story that really deserves an 8-hour docuseries or something. Maybe if the movie is successful, someone would attempt it.

February 14, 20232 yr Author comment_5999327 The actor who played Healy on Orange is the New Black is Bill Mercer, and was in among other things two of the more disturbing episode of the first season of True Detective. Nobody is listed on IMDb or Letterboxd as playing Manning.
February 14, 20232 yr comment_5999340 Maybe David Manning wants to play David Manning? Didn't he sometimes try to outshine the wrestlers or get too involved with the matches in World Class? Maybe he sees himself as the Texas wrestling version of Audie Murphy?
February 14, 20232 yr comment_5999344 I was actually thinking the same thing. If Manning has any involvement in this thing, he will probably insist on playing himself. I truly believe he thinks he was the biggest star in that territory not named Von Erich.
February 19, 20232 yr comment_5999599 Who else could relay the death of David better than Manning? “This is Joe Higuchi, All Japan Pro Wrestling. David Von Erich, dead.”
March 19, 20232 yr comment_6000975 nwa regulars Brady Pierce, Thrillbilly Silas Mason, & Danny Flamingo have been cast as the Freebirds (Hayes, Gordy, & Buddy respectively)
July 27, 20232 yr comment_6008006 We've got a release date: December 22nd. A light wholesome story just in time for the holiday festivities.
July 27, 20232 yr comment_6008008 It just isn't Christmas without a Von Erich getting a cage door slammed into his head.

October 6, 20231 yr comment_6012285 I didn’t realize Jeremy Allen White was Kerry, that’s actually awesome casting. I have trouble imagining this being as good as The Wrestler without the weirdly good combo that was Aronofsky directing and Siegel writing, but I’m still interested in this.
October 11, 20231 yr comment_6012588 I was definitely skeptical that this would be anything other than a shallow, surface level take on the story. Nope. This looks like it could be awesome
October 11, 20231 yr comment_6012589 That was an awesome trailer. Only nitpick would be the Ric Flair casting but I doubt we'll get more than 1-2 scenes with him. People are gonna get mad depressed with this film, which is fitting for such a tragic story.
October 11, 20231 yr comment_6012590 Wow! Those are the 2024 Academy Award winners Jeremy Allen White and Zac Effron!
October 12, 20231 yr comment_6012628 Zac Efron's HGH head looks less freakish in the trailer than it did in that photo that was going around on Twitter a few months ago.
