Posted September 27, 200718 yr comment_5422297 Rick Steiner vs. Mike Boyette (2/6/87) Boyette’s hair is still awesome even after all these years and this was a competitive match. Sam Houston vs. Art Crews (2/6/87) Sam Houston’s debut and this was another competitive match. No DQ for the UWF Heavyweight Title: One Man Gang © vs. Ted DiBiase (2/6/87) Gang immediately sends this match to the floor where he starts pounding DiBiase but the tide turned when DiBiase threw him into the ringpost and started punching away. DiBiase took the match back to the ring and kept up his offensive barrage and this turned into a back and forth battle with both men just pounding each other until Gang hit a clothesline on DiBiase sending him to the floor where Akbar ran him into the ringpost. DiBiase is juicing now and Gang starts working on the cut along with hitting him in the back with a steel chair. Gang would keep delivering the punishment to DiBiase and he fought back but at this time Gang was just too big and powerful. Gang missed a 747 splash though as DiBiase rolled out of the way and the fans are going nuts trying to rally him and Gang would miss another running splash into the corner but DiBiase is so weak that he falls to the floor. Gang follows him but DiBiase was playing possum and he started pounding on the Gang and hit him with a steel chair then climbed up top and hit a diving axehandle taking the Gang down. DiBiase fires away the punches and Gang hits the ref by accident after running the ropes but DiBiase continues the offense and uses some brass knux on the Gang. Gang is now juicing as DiBiase continues to wail away with the punches and another referee enters the ring. DiBiase then hits a dropkick which knocks down the other referee and DiBiase gets a schoolboy after another missed splash in the corner but Akbar hits DiBiase with his whip. Gang lays over DiBiase for the 3 count and retains his title. This was a great bloody brawl and a definite nomination. Iceman King Parsons vs. Ken Massey (2/1/87) Iceman is getting more vicious so that must mean his heel turn is coming soon. Angel of Death vs. Johnny West (2/1/87) West makes his debut and gets his ass kicked. UWF TV Title: Savannah Jack © vs. Jack Victory (2/1/87) Jack isn’t much of a worker but he throws a pretty good Superkick. There is a video next for the UWF Tag Titles Tournament seedings. The titles were vacated due to Duggan leaving for the WWF. The Fantastics are also missing from this list as they are headed to World Class. UWF President Cowboy Bill Watts then does a promo about Duggan leaving UWF. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (2/1/87) It’s the end of the line for the Fants in the UWF and who better to face than these guys. Fulton & Gilbert start off with a really fun exchange then Rogers tags in and it gets even better due to Rogers’ dropkicks that send Gilbert to the floor. Gilbert takes more punishment before finally tagging in Sting who nails Rogers with a clothesline after a criss-cross of the ropes. Gilbert would soon tag in but missed with a clothesline before he & Rogers hit each other with one. Both men then made tags and it turns into a 4-way brawl with Fulton jumping over the top rope knocking Steiner off the apron. Rogers hits a dropkick on Gilbert sending him to the floor and Fulton returns with a cross body block off the top rope but Steiner comes in and nails Fulton in the back of the head for a Sting victory. Eddie put on a tremendous one-man show here and I’m on the fence for this one. Terry Taylor vs. Art Crews (2/1/87) Very competitive match. Sting vs. Jeff Gaylord (2/6/87) Gaylord gets some offense in but still loses. Angel of Death, Michael “PS” Hayes, & Buddy Roberts vs. Chavo Guerrero, The Missing Link, & Terry Taylor (2/6/87) Chavo looked really good early on in this match in his exchange with Buddy but Buddy was starting to look really old here. It was funny watching Link work FIP as the Birds took their turns pounding on him but he would get the hot tag on Chavo who threw some great dropkicks on Hayes here. Chavo would try for his moonsault on Roberts but Sunshine pulled his foot so Dark Journey would trip up Buddy in return. Taylor tags in and the brawl is on with DJ/Sunshine yelling at each other on the floor as the others fight in the ring. Amidst the confusion Roberts gets the pin on Taylor and Sunshine was supposed to grab Taylor’s foot but she stood there and did nothing making the finish look bad. This was okay. Chavo Guerrero & Iceman King Parsons vs. Art Crews & Mike George (2/1/87) Competitive match. Terry Taylor vs. Gary Young (2/1/87) Really good fast paced scientific match. One Man Gang vs. Johnny West (2/1/87) Big time squash. After the match, DiBiase, Taylor, & Doc come down to ringside and BUSINESS IS PICKING UP as they run Devastation Inc. out of the ring. The Super Ninja vs. Jeff Raitz (2/1/87) Ninja’s debut and I’m not quite sure on who it is under the hood although I think it is Tatsutoshi Goto. Sting vs. Bobby Walker (2/1/87) Squash and Walker looks like Jason Sterling. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy (2/1/87) Yet another match in their great series. It doesn’t take long for this to become a brawl with both man trading big shots but it would slow back down into normal mode. Both men threw some great suplexes here to go along with their big blows especially Doc who basically deadlifted Gordy in a German Suplex. Doc has Gordy in a headlock as we go to commercial and we come back with Doc juicing but he backdrops out of a Gordy piledriver attempt. Doc then hits one of his own for a nearfall then the battle goes to the floor as both men just beat the hell out of each other but Gordy rolls in the ring to break the count. The battle continues in the ring and Gordy pounds Doc’s head into the turnbuckle a few times then rips at the cut following that up with punches. Doc turns the tide though and starts throwin punches as the Myriad is exploding then hits a big spear as the Birds come to ringside followed by DiBiase & Taylor. Both men then take each other down with a double clothesline then Gordy gets up and misses a diving elbow drop before Doc hits another spear taking Gordy out of his boots for another nearfall. Both men get up and we have another wild punching match and TV time runs out as the guys on the floor get up on the apron to get ready to enter the ring. Steve Cox vs. Mike Boyette (2/20/87) Cox makes his debut and wins very quickly. Chavo Guerrero & Iceman King Parsons vs. Wild Bill Irwin & One Man Gang (2/20/87) This ends up being Chavo vs. Irwin as Iceman has walked out on Chavo and Chavo demanded a singles match so Irwin obliged. Chavo once again looked good making a great comeback on Irwin but missed his moonsault press and Irwin covered for a nearfall but Eli the Eliminator would come in for the DQ at a bad time because of Irwin having the pinfall. It’s 2-on-1 until Ted DiBiase shows up and he goes to work on Irwin but they knock each other out in a double collision as Chavo works on Eli. Akbar throws DiBiase into the ringpost on the floor, as Chavo is double-teamed and DiBiase goes for the black glove while recovering on the floor. DiBiase then unloads on Irwin along with Eli while juicing. “Gentleman” Chris Adams vs. Mike Boyette (2/15/87) Damn is Boyette ugly and Adams makes his return to the UWF after being locked up in prison. Jim Ross making a sly remark about Adams’ training methods while he has been away saying that “Adams had a lot of time to work out” was hilarious. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Mike George (2/15/87) Before the match Doc introduced Steve Cox who was from Tulsa and announced that he would be his protégé. Doc looked awesome here. UWF Heavyweight Title: One Man Gang © vs. Ted DiBiase (2/15/87) Bill Watts is on commentary for the first time in over 8 months. Gang jumps DiBiase at the bell but he fights back with Gang selling hard but Gang would knock him to the floor though at Steve Cox’s feet. Akbar hits DiBiase and Cox yells at him but doesn’t move and as DiBiase tries to get back in the ring, he gets dropped neck first on the top rope sending him back to the floor. Teddy comes back though sending Gang into the railing but as the match goes back into the ring the Gang takes back over with his power. Teddy would reverse an irish whip and sent the Gang right into the referee but Gang would recover and put DiBiase in a bodyslam. Gang would then climb up to the second rope and missed his 747 splash then Teddy pulled out the glove and caught Gang in the ribs. DiBiase then went to the ropes where Akbar tripped him and would soon come in the ring for a 2-on-1 attack but Steve Cox had seen enough and he went after Akbar but DiBiase would dropkick Gang into Cox and covered him with Cox counting 3. DiBiase & Cox walk out with the UWF Heavyweight Title belt. Akbar comes back from the break and demands that DiBiase bring the belt back. This was great stuff. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) vs. Jeff Raitz & Gary Young (2/15/87) Birds looked really strong here. Akbar returns and wants his belt back then downgrades Steve Cox at ringside which ends up with Cox coming into to fight with Devastation Inc. and he WALKS TALL. This brings out DiBiase & Doc to help run them off. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Ken Massey (2/15/87) Gilbert looks great. Chavo Guerrero vs. Rick Steiner (2/15/87) This was pretty good and Chavo got a win with the reverse 180 splash off the middle rope right when TV time ran out. No referee with 5:00 time limit: Ted DiBiase vs. Skandor Akbar (2/20/87) DiBiase is still bloody from the Chavo match earlier and Akbar immediately goes for the cut by biting on it. DiBiase becomes a bloody mess and when he gets the advantage on Akbar, the Gang comes out and DiBias starts biting Akbar’s head which is busted open as well. Akbar hit a helluva bladejob and DiBiase goes to work on the cut with his diving fist drops but of course the Gang would come in. Savannah Jack runs out and he starts working on the Gang, so Tommy Gilbert gets the bright idea of clearing the ring and starting the next match. This match should be an extra. UWF Heavyweight Title: One Man Gang © vs. Savannah Jack (2/20/87) Jack hits a quick dropkick and gets a nearfall on the Gang. Jack dominated the early part of the match and Gang got a little offense in but Jack made a quick comeback and caught him with the Superkick after a missed running splash in the corner. Jack went for the pinfall but Akbar jumped in for the DQ, which of course brings DiBiase back in the ring for a 4-way brawl. Sam Houston vs. The Black Ninja (2/20/87) JIP from Houston. Sam gets a good win. My DVD cuts out right after this match so I miss the rest of what is on here.

Man there was some ugly stuff here, DiBiase is clearly calling spots at one point, and visably blades on camera. Still this was too bloody and violent and awesome to not put on a disc. I just don't think I am going to vote it particularly high. It is so great that all this Houston stuff is around. Seriously god bless Brandon Bollom. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (2/1/87) It’s the end of the line for the Fants in the UWF and who better to face than these guys. Eddie put on a tremendous one-man show here and I’m on the fence for this one. This really was a one man Eddie show, totally fun to watch him perform, but this is the worst I have seen the Fantastics look on this set, and Sting looked sub par too, we have some match ups between these teams where all four were working well, I think this can stay off. Amidst the confusion Roberts gets the pin on Taylor and Sunshine was supposed to grab Taylor’s foot but she stood there and did nothing making the finish look bad. This was okay. I liked a bunch of this, especially all of the Buddy Roberts v. Link stuff, still not a high end Houston trios match. Chavo Guerrero & Iceman King Parsons vs. Wild Bill Irwin & One Man Gang (2/20/87) This ends up being Chavo vs. Irwin as Iceman has walked out on Chavo and Chavo demanded a singles match so Irwin obliged. Akbar throws DiBiase into the ringpost on the floor, as Chavo is double-teamed and DiBiase goes for the black glove while recovering on the floor. DiBiase then unloads on Irwin along with Eli while juicing. I enjoyed big parts of this, Chavo looked totally awesome, his float over into a German was beautiful, still the totally blown finish really hurts this. Eli running in to make a save while his partner has the pin, super shitty. Only Houston match on the rest of the DVD was Sting/Steiner v. Gary Young/Jeff Gaylord which is nothing to see. Amusing 60 minutes piece on Steriods in full on the DVD though
