First off, Phil check and see if you have Mid-South 043 because I don’t

Magnum TA & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Rip Rogers & Boris Zuhkov (8/17/83)

Fun little match with a nifty finish.

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Hacksaw Duggan (8/17/83)

If Duggan wins this he gets 5 minutes with Akbar. Duggan comes in the ring and starts pounding Reed with some awesome punches. Reed is a bumping machine for Duggan early in the match. Reed would start throwing the soupbones though and kickstarted his offense where he was relentless in his offense. Duggan makes his comeback though and at this point it’s a slugfest. Duggan hits a spear for a nearfall and just keeps on punching but Reed would get the advantage once again. Reed used a front chancery to take Duggan to the mat then follows up with soupbones and a swank forearm smash. Duggan would duck a clothesline though and started swinging the hams again before hitting a jumping Mongolian Chop for a nearfall. The slugfest would continue but Duggan would throw Reed into the referee by accident sending him to the floor. Duggan backdrops Reed and hits his spear clean but Akbar would jump on the apron blowing a whistle, which brought out Kamala for the DQ finish. Reed hits a diving shoulderblock to the back of Duggan’s head and they would hold Duggan for Kamala to hit his big splash off the middle rope. The jobbers came out to help but it would take JYD, Magnum, & Mr. Wrestling II to clear the ring. The match was hard hitting as hell and would’ve been even more awesome 2 years later. DVD pick.

Akbar is in the ring waiting for Duggan but he can’t wrestle.

Ted DiBiase & King Kong Bundy vs. Tim Horner & Mr. Wrestling II (8/17/83)

II was poppin his kneelifts but DiBiase KOed Horner with the loaded glove for the win.

The Missing Link vs. Johnny Rich (8/17/83)

Squash.

Junkyard Dog vs. Mike McGhee (8/17/83)

Squash.

Krusher Darsow vs. Art Crews (8/17/83)

Darsow’s TV debut.

They show Andre the Giant getting his ass kicked by the Rat Pack to setup a future match.

Mike Jackson & Josh Stroud vs. Randy Barber & Doug Vines (8/17/83)

Stroud is jacked to the gills here. Jackson looked great here.

Hacksaw Duggan vs. Boris Zuhkov (8/17/83)

Duggan is selling his beating from the show before and Zuhkov tries to exploit the injury but Duggan was in revenge mode.

Kamala vs. Randy Barber (8/17/83)

Squash.

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Josh Stroud (8/17/83)

Reed nearly kills Stroud by dropping him on his head with a bodyslam.

Magnum TA & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Ted DiBiase & King Kong Bundy (8/17/83)

The story of this match of course was the feud between Doc & Bundy who had some good collisions here. Doc playing FIP here was pretty fun too as DiBiase & Bundy took a toll on him. Magnum came in after the hot tag and took it to DiBiase putting him in a sleeper but Bundy would club him in the back. Doc then went after Bundy and Akbar showed up throwing something to DiBiase to load his glove which he does to KO Magnum. Duggan comes out and grabs the object from Akbar and KO’s DiBiase with Magnum rolling over for the pinfall. This was lots of fun but not a nomination.

The Missing Link vs. Mike Jackson (8/17/83)

Squash and Jackson is a great squash opponent.

Krusher Darsow vs. Tim Horner (8/17/83)

Horner has to job to the greenhorn.

Art Crews, Johnny Rich, & George Weingroff vs. Mike McGhee, Rip Rogers, & Doug Vines (8/17/83)

A very rare six-man match. This was a showcase and the ones you would think looked good did.

Ross keeps calling Reed "Bruce Reed". Duggan's offense looked great early on but I just got the feeling that Reed was shrugging it off. A bad ref bump sets up the spear with no count afterword. Kimala and Akbar interfere and that is that. I have to strongly disagree with Kris here. There was very little heat during the match, some of the spots came off awkward and we have a shit finish on top of it. No vote.

Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Hacksaw Duggan (8/17/83)

Thought this was dissapointing and really distracted by Ross' inability to remember Reed's name. The really great studio matches are really great studio matches. this felt more like it could have been a good house show match but they were trying to do it for a studio setting.

Ted DiBiase & King Kong Bundy vs. Tim Horner & Mr. Wrestling II (8/17/83)

Dibiase for the most part stayed on the outside and MR II v Bundy was pretty sweet. Phil will dig this but nobodies disc selection.

The Missing Link vs. Johnny Rich (8/17/83)

Akbar introduces Missing Link says his name is Max and that he isn't insane or has he ever been in a mental institution.

Link sells a bunch early for Rich and then wholy fuck the second rope headbutt to the kidney is a naasty finisher.

Mike Jackson & Josh Stroud vs. Randy Barber & Doug Vines (8/17/83)

Jackson without the beard really looks like a nerdy civil War reenactor.

Magnum TA & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Ted DiBiase & King Kong Bundy (8/17/83)

All your Bundy v Williams interactions are really choice and this is fun.

Is their any good Bundy in WWF?

While I love his ten minute challenge match iwth Lawler,I remember Bundy being pretty underwhelming in Memphis?

He comes acrross as just really smart worker in all this stuff.

The Missing Link vs. Mike Jackson (8/17/83)

Missing Link really sells alot for jobbers at this point. And maybe I've drunk too much but damn does the second rope headbutt to the kidneys make me wince.

“Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Hacksaw Duggan (8/17/83)

Ross is a real idiot, as the Bruce Reed stuff was killing me. This didn't do very much for me at all. These are a pair of guys who can clubber, but I didn't think the clubbering was very good. It also felt a little like they were killing time waiting for a finish. I am going no here.

Magnum TA & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. Ted DiBiase & King Kong Bundy (8/17/83)

This is a step below a nomination, but man did this Bundy v. Doc feud rule. It is kind of a shame it will probably go unrepresented because I am loving the whole thing
