The Missing Link vs. Tim Horner (8/31/83)

Squash.

Hacksaw Duggan & Magnum TA vs. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) (8/31/83)

This is the Mid-South tag champs vs. the National tag champs. This is the Roadies only trip to Mid-South TV and it is awesome to see them actually selling here as on Georgia TV they were just wasting teams left and right. Bill Watts ain’t putting up with that here and the Roadies sell pretty good here. Of course though this would turn into just a brawl and they kill Duggan with a double clothesline before chunking him to the floor then doing the same to Magnum. Duggan gets in the ring and fights toe-to-toe with Animal but Hawk jumps him from behind. They miss a double clothesline and Duggan hits them then spears Hawk to the floor. Duggan spears Animal and covers him but Hawk comes off the top rope landing on Animal by mistake for a DQ. Terrible terrible finish as this was getting to be a fun match.

Junkyard Dog vs. Boris Zuhkov (8/31/83)

Boris has to job for JYD once again. They show a video of JYD visiting a sick kid before the match.

“Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Johnny Rich (8/31/83)

Buzz’s debut in Mid-South and they show a different version of the Breakfast on Piper video as hype for a match against JYD. Buzz loves doing the shoulderblock into the ringpost spot because he does it here. Rich would work on the shoulder and this becomes a real competitive match as he would he capitalize on Buzz’s mistakes. Buzz would hit his powerslam though out of nowhere and the match was over. Fun match.

King Kong Bundy vs. Art Crews (8/31/83)

Squash.

Krusher Darsow vs. George Weingroff (8/31/83)

Poor Weingroff.

Rick Rood vs. Rip Rogers (8/31/83)

Yep it’s Rude making his Mid-South debut and he looks fine but still green as hell.

Junkyard Dog vs. King Kong Bundy (8/31/83)

JYD tries to slam Bundy early but that wasn’t the right time and Bundy tries to slam JYD but he also can’t do it. Bundy gets JYD down though with a hammerlock that JYD would use a mare to take him down but misses the follow up headbutt. Bundy then goes back to work with the hammerlock but JYD would reverse it and used one of his own. JYD would soon try a running splash in the corner but Bundy just knocks him down then hits the Avalanche and JYD would kick out at 4 by pressing Bundy on top of the referee. Bundy pounds on JYD as he gets up but JYD would respond with soupbones and a clothesline. JYD pinned Bundy but Sawyer jumps him from behind for the DQ finish. Bundy then would accidentally hit Sawyer before hitting the big Thump on Bundy for a 3 count then the Missing Link would join the fun. It’s 3-on-1 until Duggan & Magnum would make the save. This was a fun little segment.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. Art Crews & Rick Rood (8/31/83)

Roadies even sell for Crews & Rood, damn Watts had some power.

The Missing Link vs. Rip Rogers (8/31/83)

Squash.

“Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Tim Horner (8/31/83)

This is a competitive match with Horner getting in a good bit of offense. Sawyer won the match with his great powerslam as Horner tried a reverse 180 splash off the middle rope.

No DQ Loser Leaves Town: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Ted DiBiase (8/31/83)

DiBiase jumps Duggan at the bell and he dominates Duggan the early part of the match. Duggan started fighting back doing what he does best in punching and it turns into a slugfest. Duggan hits a back elbow on DiBiase and he drops to the floor to gather himself but would get attacked as soon as he got back in the ring. Duggan hit a great clothesline then continued to punch DiBiase until DiBiase caught him with a Sunday punch but Duggan would still regain the advantage hitting a backdrop sending DiBiase to the floor. Duggan would give chase and got caught flush in the face with a diving fistdrop as he rolled in the ring. DiBiase then used dirty tactics plus capitalized on Duggan’s mistakes to keep the advantage and would soon lock in the figure-four. Duggan would get the reversal on DiBiase when the Road Warriors would attack Duggan holding him up for DiBiase to slap him in the face. DiBiase keeps slapping him until Magnum & Rood try to make the save but the Roadies cut them off at the pass. DiBiase loads up the glove but JYD comes in and nails everyone with a 2x4 but the Roadies started taking care of him. DiBiase goes to swing the lumber on JYD but gets hit flush with the spear. Duggan gets the board and starts beating everyone’s ass with it. Duggan hits DiBiase with the board a good 5 times and makes the pin sending DiBiase to Georgia. This was classic stuff and since it was no DQ the insanity that happened before the finish made it better. DVD pick.

Krusher Darsow vs. Johnny Rich (8/31/83)

Darsow’s streak of squashing good workers continues.

Magnum TA & George Weingroff vs. Doug Vines & Boris Zuhkov (8/31/83)

Okay match.

The Missing Link vs. Tim Horner (8/31/83)

Missing Link is now actually squashing jobbers.

Hacksaw Duggan & Magnum TA vs. The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) (8/31/83)

Road Warriors meanwhile are working competitive and really don't look good. Like wow Sheik Hernandez and Humongous might have had a better match in here.

“Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Johnny Rich (8/31/83)

So they show the Buzz Sawyer comes to Mid-South wanting JYD video package and talk about him all during JYDs match and then here he is. And fuck!!! This match is really good. Rich looks great all scientific technico controling till Buzz goes all rudo and then its back and forth and you just go HOly SHIT if Buzz v Johnny in a throw away studio match is this good...damn them for not having Atlanta on tape. If it went more than five minutes this feels like it would be an easy nomination.

Junkyard Dog vs. King Kong Bundy (8/31/83)

Its another Bundy showcase as him and JYD go at it. Crowd is super hot.Alot of this is exchanging of hammerlocks and Watts is really great at putting over the hammerlock. The kick out at 4 is just huge spot and for ref bumps having Bundy pressed onto you is a pretty good one to take out a ref. Post ref bump brawling is pretty good with JYD throwing hands and clotheslines. About seven minutes pre run in and feels like almost nomination worthy.

No DQ Loser Leaves Town: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Ted DiBiase (8/31/83)

this may be five minutes untill Road warrior s run in the first four minutes aren't as focused as the beginning of the JYD v Bundy matchup. The whole figure four section is hot and called well but as soon as its reversed we have a run in.

“Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Johnny Rich (8/31/83)

Yeah this was a blast, clearly the Rich family works great with Sawyer, as Buzz gives him way more then you might expect. I loved all the arm work, and man was that powerslam insane, below a disc selection but fun shit

Junkyard Dog vs. King Kong Bundy (8/31/83)

I loved all of the hammerlock stuff and the punches by Dog ruled. Still this had a great beginning and a great finish, but it felt like it needed a middle section to really be a disc level match. Really on the cusp, and man do I wish we had some arena Dog.

No DQ Loser Leaves Town: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Ted DiBiase (8/31/83)

I am going no here, I honestly didn't like this as much as Rich v. Sawyer or JYD v. Bundy. This is way below the other Duggan v. DiBiase stuff. Maybe put the crazy finish as an extra, but I don't think this is a good enough match to make a disc
