Posted October 1, 200718 yr comment_5422397 Lumberjack Match: Ted DiBiase & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael “PS” Hayes & Buddy Roberts) (8/31/86) DiBiase & Doc hightail it to the ring and the brawl is on. Buddy juices early in this one and both Birds take a kingsized ass beating. The heel lumberjacks actually throwing the Birds in the ring and not helping them is quite the refresher for this type of match. Hayes’ selling in this match was supremely great plus the biting of DiBiase then spitting the blood in the air was also great. Doc was awesome after getting the hot tag then of course the lumberjack brawl it out. Hayes gets a leather belt and starts choking DiBiase for the DQ then starts whipping him, which would set up the country whipping matches. Definite nomination. Valet for a Day: The Missing Link vs. “Hollywood” John Tatum (8/31/86) Interference galore here to try and help Tatum win the match but of course it would backfire and Tatum lost. UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. John Tatum & Jack Victory (10/12/86) Rogers’ dropkicks were tremendous here as the Fants dominated this early and Tatum was great at getting beaten up. We go to a break and come back as Fulton gets his shoulder injured on the railing and Rogers/Tatum having a helluva fight on the floor. They work on Fulton’s shoulder and he fights them off the best he can with one arm but for a while it isn’t enough. Fulton would hit a high kneelift and tagged Rogers in to a huge pop in Tulsa. The stereo monkey flip spot was great and Hot Stuff comes to ringside with flowers wooing Missy as her guys get their ass kicked. Tatum goes over to Gilbert & Missy and Rogers locks him in an O’Connor Roll to retain the titles. Missy decides to leave with Gilbert but Tatum stops them and it heads back to the ring with Tatum jackin Gilbert’s jaw. Tatum grabs the flowers and throws them but Hot Stuff International shows up and jumps Tatum. Tatum eats a Hot Shot then Missy nails him with the Gucci Bag and Tatum bladed on contact clear as day. The crowd goes nuts as Missy has left with Hot Stuff International. UWF Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Sting (10/19/86) We are in Fort Worth for the debut of Missy with Hot Stuff International. This started with some really solid back and forth action but Rogers would end up becoming the FIP and he did what he did best and that was get his ass beat. Sting looked really great here as he was really coming along in his learning process. Fulton gets the hot tag and we have the 4-way brawl but after Rogers ducks a leapfrog, Missy pulls the top rope down and Rogers goes over the top rope. Fulton gets double teamed but Rogers would climb up top and hit a shitty dropkick on Sting’s shoulder then Fulton hit a shitty Lou Thesz Press for the pinfall with Sting basically laying on top of him. A bad looking finish to a fine match and a fence pick for me because of said finish since there was enough before it that was really good. Hot Stuff & Hyatt come out and destroy a dozen of roses that Dark Journey received from the WFIA. They show clips of an awesome looking Steel Cage Match between DiBiase/Gordy from Houston on 10/17/86 that we don’t have. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. “Hollywood” John Tatum (10/26/86) Nice of the UWF to put these two in a singles match considering the real life hatred. This was a pretty hard hitting match for these two and there was the look of uncooperation going on. This ended up being a backdrop for Dark Journey to be painted yellow when she showed up. Tatum just left the area while Parsons & Taylor made the save. The Missing Link & Dark Journey vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert & Missy Hyatt (10/19/86) About what you would expect and it was good fun. Tatum & Victory showed up and started beating on everyone.
